No pending execution date at time of escape

Troy Leon Gregg did not have a pending execution date at the time of his escape from the Georgia State Penitentiary at Reidsville with three other death row inmates in the summer of 1980. This case was still well within the appeals process. If the UDS (inmate under death sentence) had been facing a pending execution date, they would have been isolated under heavy guard supervision either at Reidsville or taken to the Georgia Diagnostic prison in Jackson, where the electric chair was moved in 1980. Escape and death

I relied on the Italian site in saying that Gregg died the night after his escape. But this link says he died the same night, along with four other death-row escapees. Does anyone have the full story? --Trovatore 23:15, 15 April 2006 (UTC)
