Importaint enough ? edit

This man has been something like "little below Mayor" (swedish:"Borgmästare") - but this title/rank does not exist in Sweden anylonger. Instead the title "Kommunalråd" (same in singular and plural) is used, but there are often more than one - hence the "little below Mayor"-comment), in the Scanian (southernmost Sweden) town of Landskrona during 2007-2011. And Landskrona is my home town, with 30.000 inhabitants (43.000 for the entire municipality), where I've always lived. His impact in swedish politics outside my little hometown has been nill, and after the election in 2012 he is no longer one of the "Kommunalråd". I simply cannot see that this man is importaint enough for an article on English Wikipedia. Boeing720 (talk) 16:29, 13 November 2012 (UTC)Reply

Torkild Strandberg has been Member of Parliament for five years, which according to Wikipedia standards would qualify him for an article. Boeing720 is simply wrong: there were no elections in Sweden in 2012, and Mr. Strandberg is still the political leader of the municipality (which he has been since 2007). I deleted the passage regarding Strandberg's criticism of the mayor of Copenhagen (who had advocated legalizing cannabis for a trial period of three years), as this did not seem relevant enough for the English version of Wikipedia and anyway wasn't described in a neutral way (the personal opinions of the author were obvious for any reader).Fridolfin (talk) 21:59, 1 December 2012 (UTC)Reply

Friendly heads up to User:Boeing720 again re: grammar edit

I would have posted this to your user talk page but in the past you have indicated you prefer article talk. There are some grammar/wording problems in this edit that could be learned from. This is ignoring that this seems to be written from personal experience/perspective/knowledge. This comes across as a letter sent to the local newspaper not an encyclopedia article.

He is taking a lot of credit for the fact that the population in Landskrona has grown.

While he takes credit for the population growth in Landskrona,

But the town has during his reign, not grown faster than the population in its province, Scania.

And despite the increased population, has the town's commercial streets lost a large number of various shops and stores lately.

Also, despite the increased population, the town's commercial streets have [district has?] lost a large number of shops lately.

A fact which has become enforced by his renovation program, with rising rents as a result.

This fact has been reinforced by his renovation [urban renewal?] program, with rising rents as a result.

This in combination with his deliberate attraction of big storehouses far away from the actual town core, does more and more give an impression of a dying town.

This in combination with his deliberate encouragement of the construction of large stores [big box stores? large warehouses?] far away from the actual town center, more and more gives an impression of a dying town.

Which will become his political legacy rather than anything else, unless he does something about the indeed very alarming current situation.

He has also torn up the town's secondary school (Gullstrandskolan) which had some 1200 pupils as late as in 2007.

I appreciate that you are contributing in a foreign language, the effort at which is to be applauded, so I hope you can learn from these tips to help polish your work. —DIYeditor (talk) 03:34, 10 September 2017 (UTC)Reply
