Talk:Tony Martin (American singer)

Ancestry

edit

I notice this page was recently changed to reflect a Polish-Jewish ancestry instead of the Portuguese-Jewish ancestry that was previously listed. Does anyone have sources for either point of view?

According to both his autobiography and several U.S. censuses, his grandparents on both sides were Jewish immigrants from Eastern Europe (depending on which census you check, his parents were born in Eastern Europe, too). No Portuguese ancestry. All Hallow's Wraith (talk) 18:38, 30 July 2012 (UTC)Reply

"almost a Hollywood record for marital success"

edit

With a statement like that, it'd be nice to have a cross-reference to whoever does hold that record. 71.126.104.73 (talk) 17:54, 10 June 2008 (UTC)Reply

Images added

edit

I added two images of the singer, which I uploaded to Wikimedia commons. The two images come from his 1954 television series; Like much of early television, the recording has fallen out of copyright. I'll also add a link to the non-profit Internet Archive's copy of the telecast. Retro Agnostic (talk) 05:26, 12 October 2009 (UTC)Reply

Year of birth

edit

Born 1913, not 1912 (as per this Ancestry.com-related link). Please do not just change the year for no reason other than what some other sites may cite. Thanks, Quis separabit? 00:43, 21 November 2011 (UTC)Reply

Good that editor put "natural causes" in quotes as cause of death

edit

the reason i say this is because people die of specific things. if the man had been younger, certainly there would have been efforts to discover and publish those specific causes. i conclude that doctors and journalists are discriminating based on age. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.172.122.94 (talk) 20:14, 30 July 2012 (UTC)Reply
