Quality? edit

Some sections (e.g. Health and Industry ministries) use of quotations and government news release rather than media reporting suggest to me that some edits have been made for political voice rather than a neutral wiki voice. The relative absence of mentions of known reported criticisms is also obvious. Maybe the quality grade should be re-calculated. GardenMulch (talk) 15:03, 15 June 2013 (UTC)Reply

External link on this page edit

I disagree that the external link should be kept on this page. Not only is it not NPOV (which it may not necessarily have to be), it cheapens the entire rest of the article, which is otherwise well written and researched. The external link reads like a kindergarten rant about someone not sharing toys at recess. Wikipedia can't possibly be in the business of linking to every chump or two-bit organization's personal opinions on whether they think politicians "play fair". This link contributes nothing useful or relevant to the article. Having this link makes about as much sense as adding Fiberal.ca to the article on the Ontario Liberal Party - which is clearly inappropriate for Wikipedia. -Unsigned

Running in 2006? edit

In May 2005, Clement received the Conservative nomination to run in Parry Sound—Muskoka in the next federal election, against incumbent Liberal cabinet minister Andy Mitchell. Is this guy a masochist or what? Pellaken 10:02, 12 October 2005 (UTC)Reply

A masochist? Well he did win, didn't he? -Unsigned
Cabinet Minister? I was wondering how he could come so close to losing in such a conservative riding. 128.100.89.51 15:08, 26 January 2006 (UTC)Reply
It's because Andy Mitchell was so popular with the people here. He had a way of gaining their trust and support. -Unsigned

In the 2008 election Mr. Clement won by over 11000 votes. He was declared the winner by CTV twenty minutes after the polls closed.

Removal of Clement's Unfair Physician Audit System edit

"Clement ran an unfair physician audit system while he was Minister of Health and Long-Term Care which resulted in at least one suicide. Judge Peter Cory found the audit system administered with the College of Physicians and Surgeon's Medical Review Committee to be devastating, debilitating and a threat to the health care system. As a result, the new McGuinty Liberal government has suspended the Committee (the College's biggest) and is redesigning the system so that the College will likely play no part."

Removal: I dont understand why the preceding paragraph was removed without any discussion. -Unsigned

Why was this paragraph removed, and by whom? -Unsigned
I didn't remove it last time, but I did this time because it's a grotesque violation of Wikipedia:NPOV. Please grind your axe somewhere else. CJCurrie 05:41, 30 March 2006 (UTC)Reply
This is the bare bones truth. Do not remove this paragraph again. -Unsigned

Tony Clement /vs/ G8 funding in riding edit

I believe that since august 15th 2011, there is enough factual material to cover this issue.

OTTAWA—Tony Clement personally presided over the $50 million G8 legacy payouts, funneling requests for taxpayer-funded projects in his riding directly through his political office in Huntsville, new documents show.

Agreed. I added one line in "Federal Politics" referencing the G20 spending. It requires expansion.

Rogue deletion: On 22 November 2011, user Jpts58 completely deleted the section that was just added by Rhadamanthys.Mann. The G8 funding scandal definitely deserves it's own section - on Tony Clement wiki page. This section needs to be restored and elaborated. The section removed contained the following:

Concerns have been raised that Tony Clement improperly directed funds marked for the G8 Legacy Fund.

January 2012

NDP released to the media a January 13, 2010 email from Federal Economic Development Initiative for Northern Ontario (FedNor) official Tom Dodds. Clement had told the Commons committee last year that he would characterize his role as one of “coordination” between the federal government and community leaders and that he had "recommended" the project to Baird. New Democrat ethics critic Charlie Angus charged on Monday that the new documents contradict what Clement told committee.

That there is no mention of this on his page AT ALL of the G8 fund issue is a complete joke. -mc

Rogue deletion (again): On 13 March 2012 Beverly Bohan (talk) silently deleted this entire section. There is no question that the facts relevant G8 spending in Tony Clement riding deserve good wiki coverage. This section needs to be restored, deletions or edits nust be discussed on the talk page. As per Wikipedia rules, a concensus needs to be reached on the talk page before before changes are made to the main article.
AlainKonstantinov (talk) 18:02, 17 March 2012 (UTC)Reply

IMHO the G8 funding controversy should be a separate article (Baird was also somewhat involved) or a sub topic to 36th_G8_summit. That might reduce the reported deletions GardenMulch (talk) 15:03, 15 June 2013 (UTC)Reply

Need to link a wikipedia page http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Canada_2011_Census that relates to Mr. Clements controversial position on severe and controversial changes to census forms. — Preceding unsigned comment added by AlainKonstantinov (talkcontribs) 08:10, 3 November 2011 (UTC)Reply

At least I think that's where this story should go. I suggest we let the dust settle to confirm the details from multiple sources before adding to the official page but people deserve credit for actions like these;

Please change the first paragraph as Clement is no longer a Conservative Party MP, but an Independent.

Change: Tony Peter Clement PC MP (born January 27, 1961) is a Canadian federal politician and Member of Parliament of the Conservative Party of Canada.

To: Tony Peter Clement PC MP (born January 27, 1961) is a Canadian federal politician and Member of Parliament, formerly of the Conservative Party of Canada, but sitting as an Independent since November 7, 2018.

He is independent because he was forced to resign from the PC Caucus edit

Clement booted from Conservative caucus over sexting scandal ... https://www.bramptonguardian.com/...story/9021629-clement-booted-from-conservat... Tony Clement, the two-time Conservative leadership hopeful with a storied career in right-wing politics in Ontario, is now an independent. “I took him at his word that this was an isolated incident. Since then, there have been numerous reports of other incidents, allegations,” Scheer told reporters outside the House of Commons. “New information became available today that suggests that there are allegations that this is not an isolated incident, and therefore I asked Tony to resign from caucus, and he has done so.” Peter K Burian (talk) 21:41, 7 November 2018 (UTC)Reply
