There is a problem with the death date for Tokiwa given in this article, i.e., 1160. The recent NHK drama Yoshitsune indicated that Tokiwa was still alive at the time that Yoshitsune started his military career, in other words, the early 1180s. Also I know of at least one kabuki drama that has her alive when the Genpei War began. It seems to be part of the Japanese cultural sphere that she lived into the 1180s. Are there any historical sources with a definite death date? At this point, I would suggest ca. 1180 as a date.
Fair enough. The only source I have that gives a death date for her is the Japan Encyclopedia, which I've noticed to be wrong before on dates. If I remember, I'll have to look into this more. LordAmeth 11:18, 5 May 2007 (UTC)Reply
