I removed the following quote; it needs a citation before it can be included:

Welles later went on the record as saying, "I don't care what anyone says, The Trial is the best film I've ever done." Estrose 21:08, 24 March 2006 (UTC)Reply

Along similar lines, I removed the following, which also needs a citation: "Welles considered the film to be the best he ever made, along with Chimes at Midnight." 131.122.53.244 02:42, 30 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

I just did a massive rewrite for this article. Ecoleetage (talk) 20:28, 5 October 2008 (UTC)Reply

Fair use rationale for Image:The Trial .jpg

edit

Image:The Trial .jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Banned in Czechoslovakia?

edit

"Welles was not able to film The Trial in Kafka’s home city of Prague, as his work was banned by the Communist government in Czechoslovakia.[7]" - Is "his work" here Kafka's or Welles'? In either case, this sounds like a rather doubtful claim. The citation, moreover, is a dead link. Can we find a better source (or remove the statement)?Feketekave (talk) 15:06, 16 October 2011 (UTC)Reply

Music score

edit

The score permeates the movie. Can mention be made of the score? Was it recorded for the movie or from a phonograph? Fotoguzzi (talk) 10:22, 15 June 2012 (UTC)Reply

The Apartment

edit

Has somebody claimed that the desks scenes are inspired by 1960's The Apartment? --Error (talk) 00:13, 26 April 2015 (UTC)Reply

The issue is raised in this 2002 thread on Wellesnet. It seems plausible that the desk scenes in both The Apartment and The Trial were independently inspired by Vidor's The Crowd. Mathew5000 (talk) 02:41, 28 June 2015 (UTC)Reply
