Comment and questions by ceedjee edit

  • This article is dedicated to a book written by a scholar and not a specific topic. Therefore NPoV is not working as usual. I think that as background is an important information for "usual articles", a introductory section "about the Author" would also be interesting. Ceedjee (talk) 12:39, 21 January 2008 (UTC)Reply
  • "The stated purpose of the book is an analysis of the ideology and actions of labor Zionism in the period before the War of Independence of 1948". I would appreciate a quote here. And even if the author uses these words in the book, I would not write "War of Independence of 1948" but rather "1948 Arab-Israeli War" or try to get a full quote using these words. • "We are conquerers of the land facing an iron wall" !!! BG said "iron wall" This is interesting ! Didn't Sternhell make comment about that ? No comparison with the Iron Wall of Vladimir Jabotinsky ? Ceedjee (talk) 12:45, 21 January 2008 (UTC)Reply
Good suggestions!
  • regarding NPOV: a criticism section is welcome. I tried in the review section, but I found no detailed criticism at all, only general statements.
  • I think Jabotinsky gave it another menaing: an iron wall of Jewish bajonets.

Thank youo.
  • "as a variant of socialism of which Zionism was the Jewish version"

That sentence sounds complicated to me.
I would suggest "to describe the particularity of the Jewish Socialism in the Zionist context" or something like that... (but I am reluctant in the use of the word jewish here that could be misinterpretated) Ceedjee (talk) 19:05, 24 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

Sternhell's thesis is that the "particularity" of Jewish socialism is very limited, as he says "far from being unique constructive socialism was merely an Eretz Israeli version of nationalist socialism." --JaapBoBo (talk) 16:39, 30 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

This article edit

It's very thorough for what it's about. I think this article should be rated. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 75.73.182.51 (talk) 21:05, 6 September 2008 (UTC)Reply

Categories of criticism edit

Possible categorisations of this book include:

  • Category:Books critical of Israel
  • Category:Books critical of Zionism

either or both depending on content.
I personally interpret the categories as follows:

  • the first category as relating to criticisms of actions of the state of Israel
  • the second category as relating to criticisms of support for the existence of a Jewish homeland.

The book has been placed in "Category:Books critical of Zionism" and there are "see also" links between the two category pages.
How would the book best be categorised? Gregkaye (talk) 00:18, 14 August 2014 (UTC)Reply
