Book edit

Should there not be information added to this article or a seperate article about the book? -- mjohnson 20/02/06

Unfinished films edit

Is the "Unfinished films" category really accurate? The article gives the impression that the movie was finished, but it was never released due to disputes between the original screenwriters and director Jerry Lewis. (Sugar Bear 14:43, 14 July 2006 (UTC))Reply

The shooting was finished, but not the editing. There's only a rough cut for screening purposes; the released version would have been edited differently. Also, there's no music or credits. —Chowbok 22:34, 11 February 2007 (UTC)Reply

BBC television broadcast? edit

A correspondent to the Simon Mayo radio show on BBC Radio 5 Live on Friday 12 September 2008 indicated that he had seen The Day The Clown Died a few years previously late at night on BBC television. Can anyone confirm this? Was this a extract or a full broadcast? Or just a false memory? Jamesbrownontheroad (talk) 18:51, 12 September 2008 (UTC)Reply

Basics edit

This article contains virtually no in-line citations and many unsourced/unattributed claims, opinions and quotes. 76.23.157.102 (talk) 04:37, 22 June 2009 (UTC)Reply

So why not pitch in and help convert the older style references very common in older articles to the newer, inline cites we now use? If you have the knowledge and the time, you'd be doing the article and readers a big favor. Sadly, I don't have the expertise on this subject. I'll mark it for my watch pages though and try and come back to it with some references. I'll try if you'll try! OK? LiPollis (talk)

Animaniacs edit

The short "Hearts of Twilight" sould at least get a mention.

The statements needing citations... edit

I think it's close to time to delete some of the statements still needing citations unless someone's going to find some. The reasons they won't or can't release the film have become urban legends themselves and other subsequent claims about where/how the tapes are stored etc. vary and shouldn't be mentioned in the article without reliable citations. I came here to learn about the film, but have found it to be unreliable information after referencing other sources. I'll leave it to keepers of the article to fix Dancindazed (talk) 06:48, 19 August 2012 (UTC)Reply

How is there a 'full plot' when the film hasn't been released, or seen ANYWHERE? edit

????? Did someone make one up? Find a script? Work in the archival room and sneak it on and write exclusive plot on Wikipedia? If there is a time for a reference for a plot, it is now, with this unreleased movie. Charlr6 (talk) 01:26, 28 January 2016 (UTC)Reply

Quite a few people have seen it over the years, but since it's not generally available, the plot summary is unverifiable. Citations are needed for that section. Jonathunder (talk) 01:33, 28 January 2016 (UTC)Reply

I don't understand this .... edit

It is based on a script of the same name[1] by Joan O'Brien, who had co-written the original script with Charles Denton ten years previously.[2] — Preceding unsigned comment added by 61.93.233.246 (talk) 05:27, 28 January 2016 (UTC)Reply

biased tenor of this page and deleted addition of content edit

the main body of this page is biased against Lewis and his participation in this project. when i added content from verifiied sources (articles and quotes from youtube interviews) the content was deleted and i was told it was ‘vandalism’. our responsiblity is to present the full amount of evidence in an unbiased way. it is perfectly allowed to present information in support of the film, and more importantly Lewis’ own words on the subject rather than a third party, seem an obvious need. further, the use of outsize quotes, again seeminly to mock Lewis, make it appear the quotes have outsize importance to the content of the article. Anarchistemma (talk) 15:11, 15 February 2018 (UTC)Reply

A YT interwvie is not a good source. Also we can't support or not support the film. If you can find quotes from a RELIABLE source, then add them, but don't remove quotes that put the movie in a bad light. Lakeside Out!-LakesideMinersClick Here To Talk To Me! 15:55, 15 February 2018 (UTC)Reply

according to wikipedia accepted sources guidelines “audio, video, and multimedia materials that have been recorded then broadcast, distributed, or archived by a reputable party may also meet the necessary criteria to be considered reliable sources. Like text sources, media sources must be produced by a reliable third party and be properly cited.”. the documentary company that provided this video are credible and Lewis’ first person testimony are certainly pertinent to the film. I did not remove the quotes. i put them as in-line quotes in keeping with the rest of article. their original formatting, which calls them to particular attention, is presented to ridicule Lewis and the film. Lewis haters edit

this page has been created to mock and denegrate Lewis personally, and specifically for this project. based on the many discussion subjects on the talk page relating to unsourced statements, unverified information and lack of concrete subject matter, i am not the only one with this opinion. my attempt to add unbiased content was met with threats and bullying. i will add the content again and if it is deleted i will take the matter up with third party arbitration.
