The Band's Main Photo

edit

Someone needs to update the main photo with the current members on it.

Why are Spider Lilies and The Last Dance there? I will remove them until given a reason as there are no mentioning of these things in the article itself.

Crux vs Crüx

edit

Why is this on "Crüxshadows", while their site appears to say "Cruxshadows"? -The preceding signed comment was added by Nazgjunk (talkcontrib) 07:38, 5 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

"Appears" is the correct word: the title of the web-page is without the umlaut, doubtless to avoid problems for people whose browsers cannot cope with such, but very prominently on that page it proclaims "The Crüxshadows […] Official Website", complete with umlaut. Quoting, "Announcing the release of The Cruxshadows first full length original album since the 2003 release of Ethernaut.". Oh well, I guess they're just lazy. The logo (or whatever you call it) says "Crüx" too, so I guess it's right that way.-The preceding signed comment was added by Nazgjunk (talkcontrib) 17:30, 5 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

The Angel IV Cycle

edit

Could someone write something about this. All the full lengths seem to be part of it, but nothing is said about it. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by HDS (talkcontribs).

eeeh electropop? why call the crüxshadows that? synthish music+gothic style makes perfect darkwave and i believe darkwave fits ALOT better than electropop ,not to mention the band calls themselves darkwave! So Darkwave and perhaps also Gothic Rock would fit much better! Kitten!meow 19:39, 31 May 2007 (UTC) Kitten!MeowReply

Gothic Rock? Vaugly, too vaugly to be concidered that genre, in most peoples oppinion. —Preceding unsigned comment added by JimEerie (talkcontribs) 16:40, 3 March 2008 (UTC)Reply
I have to agree with the statements of Dr Who1975 and Skunkarific...although some of their music may have a "synthpop" or even "europop" sound to them, most of their music is either very nightclub-dancey, or introspectively moody...in other words, goth. As Kitten!Meow already stated, synth + goth = Darkwave, and at the risk of repeating again what others have already said, look at the fans who attend their concerts. Finally, regardless of anything else, the Crüxshadows already declare themselves as either Goth Rock, or Darkwave on any website or interview associated with them...that should settle it right there. Release Year of Frozen Embers - 2003, or 2004?

edit

I noticed that the article previously stated the release year of the Frozen Embers EP as 2004, but everywhere else I have looked I have always seen it as a 2003 release (I would cite such sources as VH1, who declare the release date as August 5, 2003)...not to mention that I own this particular EP, and it has 2003 printed right on it. So I have changed the year to 2003...if anyone has any counter arguments, please speak up. Thanks. Travis9x (talk) 15:40, 10 June 2008 (UTC)Reply

Trivia removal

edit

Recently, I removed the list of times The Crüxshadows have been mentioned in books. This is simply trivial information, and it doesn't belong here or anywhere else; the significance of that appearance simply hasn't been demonstrated. Please see User:Eyrian/IPC for more elaborate arguments. --Eyrian 16:44, 20 August 2007 (UTC)

Intro re-worded

edit

I have pretty much completely re-written the intro in an effort to remove the press-release sound that it had. "Distinctive style" and such. There was a claim that they had extensively toured in Asia, but the only shows I've heard of were the Chinese shows that took place this year. The intro also credited Rogue with being the sole origin of the band which seemed disingenuous...

In other edits, I've integrated elements from the former "trivia" section into the intro and main body Xinit 14:10, 21 August 2007 (UTC)Reply

Genre

edit

I agree. The cruxshadows are darkwave, not anything else. Not even gothic rock. Especially gothic rock. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Hatecrew9 (talkcontribs) 18:18, 28 November 2007 (UTC)Reply

Angel IV cycle

edit

I also think there should be more on this. I know nothing about it by the way. Hatecrew9 22:17, 30 November 2007 (UTC)Reply

I don't think this has any relevance for the main CXS entry here, though it may be of use for the Telemetry of a Fallen Angel album. Basically it's about the background story of that album. Angel IV is a satellite orbiting Mars, searching for life (the Cydonia myth). With the start of the cycle (the intro song Descension), the satellite begins its descent into the Mars atmosphere. During this it submits "telemetry feeds" (the songs) back to Earth, until it crashes in the final song (Satellite). And despite what the Telemetry album entry says (This album marks the beginning of "The Angel IV Cycle"), this is actually the only album to feature either a story or an actual cycle. Later albums like Ethernaut or Wishfire have an opening/intro (Into the Either, Before the Fire) but don't conclude nor really combining the songs unlike Telemetry did. 88.74.255.107 (talk) 07:19, 15 September 2008 (UTC)Reply

The Cruxshadows and John Ringo

edit

Some of the books of John Ringo feature references to the songs and lyrics of the Cruxshadows. Anybody think this merits a mention on the page? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 163.1.188.205 (talk) 03:52, 29 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

Goth??

edit

In fact, they sound more electro/synthpop these days. I, amongst everyone I know, would not concider these to still be in the goth scene. "the first goth band ever to perform at an open-air festival in China"<--- I'd like to say that this is an obvious POV. --JimEerie (talk) 16:36, 3 March 2008 (UTC)Reply

I would argue that they ARE Goth based on the attendees. To cite, I will direct all to the Cruxshadows website's photo section (http://www.cruxshadows.com/gallery.htm). Also, the content deals with Gothic themes, e.g. "Leave Me Alone", "Bloodline", "The Dying Song", "Memorare". Their MySpace page (www.myspace.com/cruxshadows) bills themselves as Gothic. They regularly play the Wave Gotic Treffen festival (http://www.wave-gotik-treffen.de/english/) Skunkarific (talk) 15:42, 22 May 2008 (UTC)Reply

Even if they aren't goth now they definetly were in the 90s.--Dr who1975 (talk) 03:49, 24 May 2008 (UTC)Reply
In fact, they use more Techno/Trance/Dance sounds these days. Mixed with some Synthpop tunes. All this Goth/Darkwave stuff is long gone. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 94.134.15.89 (talk) 13:22, 6 January 2014 (UTC)Reply

The Cruxshadows have been making music for 15 years

edit

Some of us were listening to the Cruxshadows in the 90s, when, according to certain banned users, gothic rock was the norm. Even if the era of Gothic Rock has passed.... the Cruxshadows were around and touring during those bygone days. I can't speak for nowadays because I've grown up, got a job, got married, and had children but it would not change the fact that the Cruxshadows were a Gothic Rockband during the 90s. Some people who don't know what they're talking about can't get it through their thick skull that the Cruxshadows have been around for more than 5 years.--Dr who1975 (talk) 03:46, 24 May 2008 (UTC)Reply

Sarah Kilgore vs. Sarah Stewart

edit

Parts of this article call the new dancer Sarah Kilgore while she appears in other places in the article, and on the band's website, as Sarah Stewart. Seems likely to me this is actually the same person, but someone with better sources might be able to help here! Matthew Brown (Morven) (T:C) 05:25, 29 October 2008 (UTC)Reply

The page for their first album has apparently disappeared, so the link on this page to it redirects to this page. I was looking for the track listing for that album. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 165.225.50.97 (talk) 08:23, 25 June 2018 (UTC)Reply
