Talk:The College Preparatory School

Sports edit

CPS was not traditionally known for its athletics teams; until recently the joke was that the school's initials stood for "Can't Play Sports," but in the last five years, the school's athletics teams have won more league titles than any other team in the league. The Athletics section has been updated with new information. Cpsalumni (talk) 22:43, 16 October 2013 (UTC)Reply

??? edit

Please refrain from undue optimism when updating this article. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 128.54.50.98 (talkcontribs)

This article was created by a CPS student a few years ago, thus the glowing prose. I have since updated it and maintained the statistics. As the school librarian, I know that the optimism is not necessarily undue, but I will attempt to re-edit for bias, and also correct the grammatical errors that were left when the last editor changed the wording. School Rivals edit

It seems as though CPS sees Head Royce as a rival whereas Head Royce does not reciprocate. Anyways, just some thought. Mipchunk 01:28, 23 May 2006 (UTC)Reply

The intensity of the opposition comes and goes, but HRS definitely reciprocates.76.103.253.152 23:27, 15 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

Photos edit

This article is completely lacking in photos. It'd be good to add some. — Emiellaiendiay 22:43, 24 February 2007 (UTC)Reply

Mission statement edit

user:Mean as custard removed some text which reads, admittedly, like a marketing pitch; however, the text removed is the mission statement of the school as constructed by its faculty and administration and seems relevant to the article. I suggest it be restored, possibly with an explanatory word or two. If I see no further comment here or on related talk pages I may restore it myself, but I don't want to get into an edit dispute. Thanks for reading. Her :Pegship 17:10, 19 December 2017 (UTC)

Photo of campus now on Commons edit

I've uploaded a photo of the campus to Commons for use in this article, if editors see fit. --Cassiville (talk) 00:03, 22 April 2020 (UTC)Reply

Student Names edit

Should student names be included on the page? For example debaters that have won awards (winner of Western JV Novice Champs, or clean sweep championship qualification), or the student who created the CPS schedule, or sports captains that have won championships. If no there's a few (Rahim in the technology section and another I believe) to remove and if yes I can add the debate kids and maybe someone else knows the sports info? — Preceding unsigned comment added by TGercken (talkcontribs) 16:50, 19 March 2021 (UTC)Reply

  • IMHO if the student has been named in an external/public source (news item other than that published by the school), it seems fair to name them here. I'm not certain of the school's actual policy on that. Her Pegship (?) 23:55, 13 October 2023 (UTC)Reply
I think in the interest of protecting minors who may not necessarily want a record to live Forever about them, it makes sense to leave those names out. See WP:NONAME and WP:BLPNAME for the reasons why. lizthegrey (talk) 01:25, 14 October 2023 (UTC)Reply
    Actually, what @Lizthegrey said makes sense. Her Pegship (?) 04:49, 14 October 2023 (UTC)Reply
