In January 1836, agents purchased the sloop-of-war Austin and the brig Wharton. How exactly is it that on 16 May 1843 the Texas Navy sloop-of-war Austin and brig Wharton engaged Mexican naval vessels when by the middle of 1837, all of the ships had been lost at sea, sunk by the Mexican Navy, run aground, captured, or sold...? meccaneer (talk) 05:10, 4 February 2010 (UTC)Reply
There were two Texas navies: the first was completely destroyed by 1838 and then a second navy was reconstituted 1839 - 1846. Argos'Dad 15:49, 15 October 2011 (UTC)Reply

The USS Texas (BB-35) page reads that Texas is the flagship of the Texas Navy. I realize that Texas doesn't really have a navy, but I think some tie in from the ship's page to this page would be helpful.--Jim in GeorgiaContribsTalk 02:03, 29 January 2013 (UTC)Reply

The article could be improved, in the introductory section, referring to the fates of the boats. From the separate articles for each boat, 2 ran aground (same day & place), 1 captured, and 1 sold, none lost at sea, and none sunk by the Mexican Navy, by October of 1837. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 144.183.224.2 (talk) 23:35, 31 August 2017 (UTC)Reply
