Louis Couperus and Tegal.

edit
The famous Dutch writer, Louis Couperus, travelled to Tegal in June 1899, to visit his sister Trudy.

Her husband Gerard Vallette was Resident there at the time. His important novel "De stille kracht" is mainly set here. The novel is in the first place the story about the hatress of the uppressed indonesian population against there uppressors, the Dutch. There still exit pictures of the house of the resident. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 36.73.133.45 (talk) 05:16, 29 March 2015 (UTC)Reply
