Action Plan: Making this artice a good arcticle edit

All good and featured articles on universities seam to have kind of the same layout:

  1. History
  2. Campus
    1. campusses as sub catagories
  3. Academics
    1. Research
  4. Student Life
  5. Athletics
  6. Alumni

and Rest

Since athletics dont seam to be as important for a university here as in american univesities, sport activities should be in the Student Life section

Future Layout Plan:

  1. History
    1. Founding
    2. something in between
    3. Recent History (Renaming, TUD Law)
  2. Campus
    1. inner City Campus
    2. Campus Lichtwiese
    3. Botanical Garden
    4. Griesheim
    5. Other
  3. Academics
    1. Organisation
    2. Study
    3. Research
  4. Student Life
    1. Housing Situation and culture in Darmstadt
    2. Organisations at the University and Sport
    3. University Politics?
  5. People
    1. Professors and Scientists
    2. Alumni

history part edit

is it ok to just copy large parts and translate them? propably not! The Layout should include: Founding first and recent history last

to do list edit

  • get new pictures
  • apply new layout
  • logo: allowed to use it? it doesnt look sharp!

Move of the page edit

Technische Universität Darmstadt cares a lot about not being translated as Technische Universität Darmstadt is a brand name. As a faculty member of Technische Universität Darmstadt, I have taken the liberty of moving the page to its proper name. If there should be any trouble, please contact User_talk:Janrpeters.

Official name vs. english translation edit

The article states that the official name of the university is "Technische Universität Darmstadt". So I'm wondering... why doesn't the article name match the official name? --70.64.15.226 (talk) 06:48, 5 February 2008 (UTC)Reply

Fair use rationale for Image:Athene logo sw.jpg edit

Image:Athene logo sw.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Technische Universität DarmstadtDarmstadt University of Technology – It's not like I'd perfer one or the other option, just felt there should be a discussion, because the English variant is the one usually applied in similar article's names (like the ones linked by the Template:TU9). There also is the problem of the related category having kept its name. The move had been performed by User:StG1990 on the basis of the following rationale: "Technische Universität Darmstadt is also the offical english name". As stated above by himself, User:Janrpeters had performed a move just before that, which, however, had been done in cut & paste fashion. So the questions are if a) "Technische Universität Darmstadt" can really be considered a unique brand name comparable to, say, RWTH Aachen, or if "Technische Universität" should be considered a mere generic name instead, and b) if this should be considered the essential point in naming the related article. Relisted. BDD (talk) 17:48, 30 July 2013 (UTC) Axolotl Nr.733 (talk) 19:00, 23 July 2013 (UTC)Reply

The TU Darmstadt does not use an translation. This ist clearly marked in der Corparate-Design-Guide. Sadly the text which is explaining this is only accessible to members of the university. (Google-Translation) By this the official name in is here also Technische Universität Darmstadt. Also allowed is TU Darmstadt but this is only an abbreviation. --StG1990 (talk) 19:56, 23 July 2013 (UTC)Reply
  • Oppose -- The refusal to use a translation is clearly stated in a comment above. WP should not impose this on the university. Peterkingiron (talk) 23:24, 24 July 2013 (UTC)Reply
  • oppose The english language website uses TUD. I was able to find english language news sources that use it. I don't think there's a clear commonname here, so we should default to other naming guidelines - in which case, both are equal and equally recognizeable, especially since the university itself brands itself in the German even when writing in English. As such defaulting to the german version seems reasonable.--Obi-Wan Kenobi (talk) 20:04, 25 July 2013 (UTC)Reply
  • Support This is the English Wikipedia, and generally article names are in English.John Pack Lambert (talk) 21:32, 27 July 2013 (UTC)Reply
  • Oppose We do not create our own translations when something uses a name not in English. - The Bushranger One ping only 07:13, 1 August 2013 (UTC)Reply

Introduction edit

The introduction is absurdly long and was most likely written by an editor in a conflict-of-interest-position to create a prestige image.

The extent of the introduction is unprecendented for German universities even of higher caliber and reputation. Herr Endgegner (talk) 21:48, 6 January 2021 (UTC)Reply

Only two women listed in notable alumnis edit

Read through the alumni list on a mission to solve an orphaned article and noticed there are only two women listed in the notable alumni section — if someone is familiar with this topic please take the time to update this. Marleeashton (talk) 07:11, 18 February 2023 (UTC)Reply
