Religion
edit- Tab Hunter says he's Catholic. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 64.102.254.33 (talk • contribs) .
"Gertrude Gelien was a German Catholic; his father was a German Jew. More research is needed. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 67.180.100.79 (talk • contribs) .
- Ooops, I'm wrong. His mother, Gertrude was Lutheran according to NNDB. And his father was Jewish.

- Tab was raised as a Catholic. His mother, according to him, did not practice the Lutheran religion. His father was a non-practicing Jew.--Kinopanorama widescreen 11:27, 9 April 2006 (UTC)
- As I recall from his autobiography, Tab Hunter is of one-half Jewish ancestry on his father's side and does not actively practice the Jewish faith. He knew very little about his biological father for most of his life, as his father left his mother when Hunter was an infant, and Hunter's mother rarely talked about his biological father. Within the last decade, after his mother's passing, Hunter did some genealogical research in Washington D.C., and it was only then that he found out that his father was Jewish. I am German and the concept of Jewish is Religion not Nationality. Gelien is no more Jewish than it is Gentile; It is a German name. His mother was Catholic not Jewish and in the Jewish Faith, the identity of "Jew" comes from the Mother and not from the Father. After Tab's parents' divorce, Tab's mother took her maiden name and legally changed her sons' names to reflect her maiden name and removed from her husband's name. This stated within the "Public Domain."
I am German but Roman Catholic. Tab Parents were German but his father practiced the Jewish Faith while he mother practiced the Catholic Faith. I have family living in both Germany and The United States. My father was a German Catholic. If you carefully read what I wrote, I wrote of his mother not his father. What I wrote is correct and stands and is part of the Public Domain. I, too, have family, both in Pittsburgh, PA., and in Germany. What you wrote is incidental as it neither adds or nor detracts from what I wrote. Your superiority stems from your ego not your intellect. My mother knew both Natalie Wood and Tab Hunter.

Neutral point of view
editThe article says "Although he had a mediocre singing voice" which doesn't sound NPOV to me. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 70.212.45.32 (talk • contribs) .
- Tab Hunter apparently believed that he could not sing very well, and was quite open about it at the time, and in his recent autobiography. I will revise the sentence accordingly. --Skeezix1000 11:22, 17 May 2006 (UTC)
His spectacle dates, etc.
editI have deleted the statement, "according to E! TV documentary, going on the sham dates with young actresses made him extremely uncomfortable". In his autobiography, Hunter copiously recalls these women and the pressures on him to pretend to be romancing them. He makes clear that this he did not feel put out by the aspect of the phony-image-making required of him, and several of these actors were his close friends, especially those who also recognized the sham for what it was. Natalie Wood especially was a cherished friend.
Of course, one needs to be aware that a person's autobiographical recollections could be slanted. But one needs to be equally aware that any reportage is highly error prone and celebrity reportage doubly so, so E! TV is not especially credible (nor especially noncredible). Scrutiny of Hunter's autobiography doesn't support discounting his recollections on this score to a significant extent.
I don't like saying that small children "took" a surname. Tab Hunter's mother was the one who decided this. Hurmata 03:36, 9 February 2007 (UTC)
Edits to Personal Life section
editWhoever added that Hunter had sexual replationships with Ethika Choureau and Joan Cohn was misinformed. I just finished reading his autobiography, and while he states he believed he loved both women enough to consider marrying them, he also is clear that their relationships never were consumated. 209.247.22.164 (talk) 22:13, 23 December 2007 (UTC)
- I removed categories that described Hunter as Jewish since he was baptized and raised Catholic. There isn't anything in his autobiography that suggests he ever has considered himself Jewish. 209.247.22.164 (talk) 23:23, 23 December 2007 (UTC)
I took the "Liberty" of removing the "Husband" from his partner. His partner was not Tab's husband. This is an absurdity and does the actor an insult. Two males are neither husband nor wife; they are partners, legally and socially. The role playing is between two adults, in the bedroom or within the house.
Leave the "Gay" out of Tab's profile; he did not relate to "Gay." during his lifetime. Give the man his class! — Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.122.209.54 (talk) 16:06, 18 October 2019 (UTC)
Filmography - Missing Links
editI just went through the filmography and added links to all of the films which already have pages. I also added links to those pages where there is already a disambiguation link, but no page. That way, when someone adds the page it should (hopefully) already be linked in with the other open links, as well. -- 192.115.133.116 (talk) 23:35, 25 January 2009 (UTC)

the second film on the list, Island of Desire (1952) is also known as Saturday Island, and figures in Wikipedia under that name. Full details are to be found on IMDb, as it is also the name of the original story, I suggest the entry be renamed 124.183.107.2 (talk) 03:27, 11 December 2012 (UTC)
Partly done: Island of Desire seems to be the principal title, and I'm not sure why our article on the film doesn't reflect that. In any event, what I've done is piped the link so that it leads to our article, and added "aka Saturday Island" to the entry. That should cover the bases, I hope.
