Untitled edit

This article says she was born in Allahbad, UP in the intro, and then says she was born in Hyderabad, AP later in the bio. Where was she born? This article needs some accuracy and consistancy.

Not sure, but I think Sushimta Sen won the Miss-Universe-Title and Aishwarya Rai the Miss-World-Title. Aren`t those two different contests? Correct me if I'm wrong. --Plumcouch 11:13, 26 July 2005 (UTC)Reply

Probably you're right. I recently copyedited this somewhat confusing passage and I may have understood it incorrectly. If you would PLEASE do any factchecking and revising as necessary. I'll do any copyediting if it's to be done, but I don't have time to google. I'm hot on the trail of fifteen zillion other things. Wikipedia conduces to ADHD! Zora 11:38, 26 July 2005 (UTC)Reply

I checked it -- Miss Universe and Miss World are two different things. It`s not the same contest. --Plumcouch 16:23, 26 July 2005 (UTC)Reply

Ah, I did some googling, and I got a reference to the 1994 Miss India contest, which Sushmita won and Aish lost -- amid accusations of favoritism from both sides. I think that must be what Nilay is trying to convey, but it may be that we're not reading his Indian English the way he wants it to be read. As they say of the UK and the US -- divided by a common language <g>. Zora 22:30, 2 August 2005 (UTC)Reply
In that contest, Aishwarya was widely tipped to win as she was already a popular model and Sushmita was relatively unknown. Sushmita was trailing till the final round when a judge asked about the state of Indian textile industry - while she did not know the answer, she answered intelligently by linking it to her wardrobe - and the answer was the turning point in the contest. --Gurubrahma 14:08, 6 January 2006 (UTC)Reply

Photographs Needed edit

For the Article to meet the Wikipedia standards, it needs some images of Sushmita Sen. Also i feel the para MISS UNIVERSE is a but biased to Aishwarya. I am taking liberty to tag this article for need of Photographs. hope you all agree with me. (Asro 22:23, 6 July 2007 (UTC))

Sushmita Sen's age and height are both wrong. Since she was only 18 when she won the Miss Universe title in 1994, she was born either in 1974 or 1975. Moreover, she is 5 ft 9 inches tall, and not 6 ft 1 inch as stated in the article. Makar —Preceding unsigned comment added by 122.162.145.77 (talk) 18:48, 23 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

Tagging films as "flop" "hit" etc

Why does her entry have flop, hit, average etc tagged to various film titles? Are these according to box office figures? Seems unnecessary and/or based on personal opinion. Fredericslade (talk) 11:06, 3 February 2009 (UTC)Reply

Picture edit

can someone find a better picture than one in which her face is all scrunched up? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Welcome to the dark side. (talkcontribs) 04:37, 26 July 2009 (UTC)Reply

Proposed infobox image change (version)! edit

It is being proposed to change/update a new version of the infobox image of Sushmita Sen for following reason(s):

Replace with: The current image has been collected from Bollyhood Hungama (http://www.bollywoodhungama.com/). I have found some more images in the same site: 1) image 1 2) image 2 etc!
Note: If the uploader of the first image wants (s)he can make the change himself/herself!--Tito Dutta 22:10, 14 May 2012 (UTC)Reply

Well I think this is silly, but if we must... The first one is a nice pose, but both are very low quality. Also, it is not certain that these are usable. I think the person asking for the change should go through the trouble of making the correct change. BollyJeff | talk 23:53, 14 May 2012 (UTC)Reply
Comment: Well I think this is silly
Reply: Yes, apparently it is!
  • When searched in Google, Wikipedia article on Sushmita Sen comes as the first result. The article got 56,000 visits last months. Sen is mainly famous for her acting and not for exposing in her films. So, if we get better image, we can think of replacing it. The current image is similar to those images which someone gets by searching with query "Bollywood actress cleavage" etc (link of search page deliberately not added, can be searched in Google manually).
  • When featuring (or writing something about) a Bollywood actress, in most of the gossip magazines, TV shows, News Papers etc generally an attractive (read "exposing") image is added as a USP.
Comment: Also, it is not certain that these are usable. I think the person asking for the change should go through the trouble of making the correct change.
Reply: No problem, the person asking for the change has informed the original uploader about this discussion too! --Tito Dutta 00:50, 15 May 2012 (UTC)Reply
Please note that only pictures from parties or events in bollywood hungama are in a free license. Celebrity images are still copyrighted. The two images you suggested cannot be uploaded to commons. --Sreejith K (talk) 05:12, 24 May 2012 (UTC)Reply
This cropped image looks good. Is that okay Tito? §§AnimeshKulkarni (talk) 06:05, 24 May 2012 (UTC)Reply
Sreejith K, oh sure!
Animesh Kulkarni, excellent work! Since you have started doing the work (great), you can add a new version to your file, which you can find here. Good wishes! --Tito Dutta 01:40, 25 May 2012 (UTC)Reply
the updated image is good too! --Tito Dutta 17:00, 2 June 2012 (UTC)Reply
