Tenggara - South East or Southeast edit

The article has the former, but Provinces of Indonesia#List has the latter, and so do many articles found via search for regencies and other entities and I think to avoid creation of duplicate articles for subtopics (e.g. Subdistricts of Southeast Sulawesi / Subdistricts of South East Sulawesi) it should be the same for all of Indonesia. For Sulawesi Britannica and The Jakarta Post have "Southeast". It is also Southeast Asia. AsianGeographer (talk) 07:26, 8 January 2013 (UTC)Reply

South East SulawesiSoutheast Sulawesi – Per above, comments to the contrary welcome. AsianGeographer (talk) 07:38, 8 January 2013 (UTC)Reply

Tendative support. Hmmm - i don't know the "correct" answer. However, my gut feel says "Southeast" and Google returns 4.8m hits for "Southeast Sulawesi" vs. less than 500,000 for "South East Sulawesi" --Merbabu (talk) 22:55, 8 January 2013 (UTC)Reply
Further, this would also be in line with Southeast Asia for what it's worth. --Merbabu (talk) 23:17, 8 January 2013 (UTC)Reply
  • Support, seems to be the proper grammar and common name — Crisco 1492 (talk) 23:27, 8 January 2013 (UTC)Reply
Support, however google logarithms aside and general conventions in mind from something like Trove - there is no official standardisation in usage as far as I can see - as South East Sulawesi, South-East Sulawesi, and Southeast Sulawesi are all found, with the Indonesian administrative word of southeast being single (ie Tengarra) then a single conjoined word seems appropriate. It would be nice to establish a convention from something pre-digital and door-stopper weight of authority like the massive volumes from the US geographic names index if they are still on some libraries shelf somewhere and havent been ditched... I agree that it's unlikely that we can "prove" a "correct" answer. It's a judgement call. --Merbabu (talk) 23:35, 8 January 2013 (UTC)Reply
