== Okay... == zidan As a Norwegian skier, I have never heard of this... sport... The closest thing would be people combining walking their dog with a ski trip. There is no reference for the name being derived from "skikjøring" either (although it could make sense). If possible, someone should try to dig up some more background information on how this peculiar sport evolved. I've seen the equestrian version in the US. We definitely think of it as Scandanavian in origin. Popular in places like Minnesota. Montanabw^(talk) 22:33, 27 November 2009 (UTC)

The Norwegian language page on dog driving (Hundekjøring) mentions the sport of skijoring(Snørekjøring), as well as pulka driving. I'm not sure what the best way to reference that article is, or if there is an appropriate way to reference other language articles on similar subjects. I am not convinced that the etymology of the word skijoring, as stated currently, is correct. I found an article expressing an alternate opinion once. The article provided evidence that the term was coined in France from the word skieur. Heathera skidog (talk) 22:49, 17 December 2009 (UTC)

Maybe someone could incorpporate the Norwegian wiki material into an article here. There is a protocol of sorts on how to do so, somewhere in WP:CITE or related linked articles. As for etymology, all I know is that we call it "skijoring" in the USA and between the spelling and its geographic popularity in the Upper Midwest and West, it is widely considered to be Scandanavian, not French, in origin. Media?

In the short film "Snow Thrills", shown on Mystery Science Theater 3000 ep 311, it mentions "Skijoring" which Joel intentionally mispronounces as "She whoring" based on the short's announcer saying "ski" should be pronounced as "she." In response to Joel Tom says "Next on Sally Jessy Raphael ski joring." Is the MST deal worth a mention in the media section?--T. Anthony (talk) 00:29, 16 February 2010 (UTC)
