  • Have had a go at tidying this page up, however I am not sure about the actual kinglist Markh 12:02, July 29, 2005 (UTC)
  • UCL has the D16[1] list as follows ...

Djehuty Sekhemresementawy

Sobkhotep VIII Sekhemresewosertawy

Neferhotep III Sekhemresewosertawy

Monthhotepi Sankhenre

Nebiryraw I Sewadjenre

Nebiryraw II

Semenre

Bebiankh Sewoserenre

Sekhemreshedwaset

(five lines lost in the Turin King list)

Kings whose exact position within the 16th Dynasty is uncertain

Dedumose I Djedhotepre

Dedumose II Djedneferre

Monthemsaf Djedankhre

Monthhotep VI Merankhre

Senusret IV Seneferibre

Any thoughts? Markh 17:14, July 31, 2005 (UTC)

No thoughts, the source I got it from didn't name any of the 16th dynasty kings. Where you got your list from could be their crown names while the ones which are published could be the kings birth name. (sorry for the lateness of reply)- Manach 21:50, August 25, 2005

I was checking the quote of Janine Bourriau and noticed that in my edition (new edition 2003, paperback)of "The Oxford History of Ancient Egypt," ed: Ian Shaw, it is located on page 191. 212.45.63.109 (talk) 16:41, 13 February 2010 (UTC)Reply

Maybe the following information is helpful, the 16th dynasty according to Ryholt:

Chronology of the Sixteenth Dynasty: (nomen, prenomen, date, length)

1. Name lost cf. A-E below, 1649-1648, est.1 year

2. Djehuty, Sekhemresementawy, 1648-1645, 3 years

3. Sobkhotep VIII, Sekhemresewosertawy, 1645-1629, 16 years

4. Neferhotep III, Sekhemresankhtawy, 1629-1628, 1 year

5. Monthhotepi, Sankhenre, 1628-1627, 1 year

6. Nebiryraw I, Sewadjenre, 1627-1601, 26 years

7. Nebiryraw II, prenomen unknown, 1601, est.1/4 year

8. nomen unknown, Semenre, 1601-1600, est.1 year

9. Bebiankh, Sewoserenre, 1600-1588, 12 years

10.nomen unkown, Sekhemreshedwaset, 1588, est.1/4 year

The names of the following five kings are lost in the Turin King-list, but presumably included those listed as A-E below, the order remains uncertain

List of kings

edit

Helck has a different list of kings (and some local rulers). I added that for completion sake. It's a bit strange, but the literature does not quite agree. The German wikipedia for instance uses Helck. I'm not sure who is more generally accepted Ryholt or Helck? Or possibly both theories have some following? --AnnekeBart (talk) 02:28, 9 May 2011 (UTC)Reply

Both theories have some following I believe. Interested inTaxonomy (talk) 17:29, 5 November 2024 (UTC)Reply
