Confirmed not a part of mainline SMT series edit

Even though this page has referred to Strange Journey as being considered part of the main series of Shin Megami Tensei games for quite some time, I've always had my doubts. Of course, doubts are not encyclopedic, so I figured that was just a quirk of mine. However, now that Shin Megami Tensei IV is available for pre-order in the states, I've finally got some proof to back up my theory. If one looks at the product descriptions for that game on both Amazon and GameStop, one sees the following (emphasis mine):

The Shin Megami Tensei RPG series began in Japan in 1992 on Super Famicom. Neither this game nor its sequel was published in North America. In 2004 Shin Megami Tensei III: Nocturne was the first SMT game in North America, although "III" was removed from the PlayStation 2 title. The SMT series later spun off several sub series, including Persona, Devil Summoner, Devil Survivor, Digital Devil Saga, and the standalone Strange Journey. This new RPG is considered the fourth in the Shin Megami Tensei mainline series.

If it was just Amazon's or just GameStop's description, that'd be one thing, but since it's the description on both, and this paragraph and almost all the others on both pages are identical, it's likely this was written by Atlus themselves for use on retailer websites. Even if it wasn't, however, these are still two credible sources saying Strange Journey is a standalone title. Therefore, I'm removing the line about how it's considered part of the main SMT series, and moving its location in the navigation box accordingly. Just saw this and it caught my eye. JAGUAR  20:55, 6 January 2016 (UTC)Reply

Initial comments edit

  • "女神転生 STRANGE JOURNEY (ストレンジ・ジャ" - is this truly capitalised in Japanese?
  • " is a role-playing video game" - link role playing game
  • "North American boxart" (in infobox) - box art, two separate words
  • "Reception of the game has been generally positive" - could be expanded slightly to mention what aspects of the game critics liked or disliked
  • "Despite its lacking a numeral" - should be either Despite its lacking numeral or Despite it lacking a numeral
  • "Among the early ideas created for the title was for it to be set in New York" - New York City or the state?
  • "and Nocturne. Strange Journey In contrast" - I think the full stop is in the wrong place here
  • "The game's North American release, along with a release window, in November 2009" - this sentence doesn't make sense to me. Was it released in North America in Novemeber 2009 or March 2010? Was November its original target?

Once all of the above are clarified this should be good to go.   JAGUAR  14:34, 7 January 2016 (UTC)Reply

@Jaguar: I've dealt with all the issues you raised. And yes, in the Japanese version, it is always written in English capital letters. --ProtoDrake (talk) 15:48, 7 January 2016 (UTC)Reply
