Contested deletion edit
This page should not be speedily deleted because...
- Tanabe was Japan's oldest living man for 9 months.
- Tanabe was a male supercentenarian who reached age 111.
- Tanabe was the second oldest living man in the world.
- If Bob Taggart, Stanley Lucas, and Kohachi Shigetaka (among others) get to have their own article, so should Sadayoshi Tanabe.
- Tanabe is one of the very few supercentenarians known for something other than their longevity, considering that he was an academic and a bibliographer.
- Tanabe was the third oldest verified undisputed Japanese man ever at the time of his death.

Career in academia edit
Tanabe's career in municipal governance and post-WWII relationship to the University of Michigan's Center for Japanese Studies in Okayama (and, I believe, to SCAP) is far more important than his status as a supercentenarian. The "timeline" of his supercentenarian experience isn't particularly noteworthy and barely makes sense. Editing article accordingly as I find more sources. Prburley (talk) 19:08, 8 July 2012 (UTC)
I disagree that his SC (supercentenarian) experience doesn't make much sense. When it comes to SCs, any record and moving up the ranks makes sense.
