I am going to start trying to make new references for content on this page. The process for doing so seems very complicated to me. I have some 3rd party URLs but, I am not clear on how to write the code (or whatever its called) I'll give it a shot. The page would more than likely be more appropriately named "Roy Head and The Traits."(70.112.115.67 (talk) 00:33, 21 March 2009 (UTC))Reply

I was unsuccessful trying to enter: Neely, Tim (2007), 5th Edition Goldmine Record Album Price Guide, Krause Publications This happens to be a a book. However, I have several 3red party URLs to enter also but simply have trouble with "references." 70.112.115.67 (talk) 17:32, 21 March 2009 (UTC)Reply

Sorry, but I have not the time nor patience to sort through a half dozen articles and spend hours trying to figure out how to enter a simple reference to verify parts of the article that I put in here. Can you folks who know about this sort of thing not make this a lot easier? If someone will give me a code line and some VERY simple step by step procedures, I'll be happy to verify the parts of the article I have entered. 70.112.115.67 (talk) 17:45, 21 March 2009 (UTC)Reply

Looks like I've messed it up now. Could not figure out how to use sandbox so I just took a shot at adding the reference above.70.112.115.67 (talk) 14:35, 22 March 2009 (UTC)Reply

It is estimated that "Treat Her Right" ultimately sold 4 million copies and was the featured song, alone with Wilson Pickett's "Mustang Salley," in the successful 1991 motion picture, The Commitments.[8]70.112.115.67 (talk) 13:19, 3 April 2009 (UTC)Reply

The successes of The (original) Traits during their first 5 years, under the supervision of Ms. Edra Pennington and Dr. T.R. Buie, would lay the groundwork for what would happen in the next 3.[4]70.112.115.67 (talk) 13:33, 3 April 2009 (UTC)Reply

I have done a great deal of inline referencing for the Wiki page on ROY HEAD, which I think would more appropriately be named “Roy Head and The Traits.” I would appreciate someone with a lot more skill than me looking into this. Thank you. 70.112.115.67 (talk) 11:07, 11 April 2009 (UTC)Reply

The result of the move request was not moved. Perhaps the article should be split into two, with one devoted to Roy Head and the Traits as a musical group, and this one devoted to Roy Head the person. -- Aervanath (talk) 20:12, 9 May 2009 (UTC)Reply

Roy's cause of death

edit

https://montgomerycountypolicereporter.com/montgomery-county-loses-an-icon-roy-head-passes/

According to this, he died from a heart attack. Can this be added? MikaelaArsenault ([[User talk:|talk]]) 22:18, 21 September 2020 (UTC)Reply

@MikaelaArsenault: It can be added if you find a better source. That seems to be user generated, and therefore wouldn't fall under WP:RS. I looked for sites reporting his death. The best I could find was the Houston Chronicle, but it doesn't list the cause of death. 78.26 (spin me / revolutions) 03:08, 22 September 2020 (UTC)Reply

How about these?

https://www.commercialappeal.com/story/entertainment/music/2020/09/22/treat-her-right-hitmaker-roy-head-dead-79/5860896002/

https://bestclassicbands.com/roy-head-obituary-treat-her-right-9-21-20/

There’s some additional information that can be added from those two articles as well. MikaelaArsenault (talk) 12:48, 22 September 2020 (UTC)Reply

@MikaelaArsenault: I think the Commercial Appeal can be used as a reliable source. However, it doesn't mention the cause of death. I would consider Best Classic Bands to be a weak source, but usable in limited circumstances. (Anyone with knowledge about these sources please jump in!) However, BCB's statement on the cause of death seems to be based on hearsay, and certainly not rigorous reporting. I still wouldn't add it. So, what is the most compelling information in the Commercial Appeal article you'd like to add to the article? 78.26 (spin me / revolutions) 13:16, 22 September 2020 (UTC)Reply

The Best Classic Bands article says that no cause of death was revealed but he was believed to have suffered a fatal heart attack. The blue-eyed soul singer had been known to be ill for some time. MikaelaArsenault (talk) 13:21, 22 September 2020 (UTC)Reply

Per my previous statement, I don't think we should use that information from Best Classic Bands. I asked what information from the Commercial Appeal, which looks far more reliable, you'd like to add. 78.26 (spin me / revolutions) 13:34, 22 September 2020 (UTC)Reply

I know it's been a few months since he passed but he did have health issues in recent years and his heart attack was surprising but he wasn't in good health. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Eric6596255162 (talkcontribs) 16:39, 14 February 2021 (UTC)Reply

Music label, roy head

Roy H. had his biggest hits on the Sceptre label.Ditto, BJ Thomas. Roy sang and performed on American Bandstand and Lloyd Thaxton Show during the 1965-1967 period. Basic rock soul country crossover. RIP. JS 2601:145:8003:2930:CDEE:E233:82ED:24EC (talk) 15:51, 2 October 2023 (UTC)Reply
