No subject

Authenticity check: A search reveals that the phrase "regarded by many" appears in the text. Is the phrase a symptom of a dubious statement? Could a source be quoted instead? Perhaps the "many" could be identified? Might text be edited to more genuinely reflect specific facts?

What does this sentence mean: "Parish actually teamed with Larry Bird from 1980-1992, and Kevin McHale from 1980-1993, before each retired." Maybe it is the phrasing, but I don't understand the purpose of providing this information. Perhaps it is the use of the word "actually".

Spousal abuse

Is that true? I'm a casual Celtics fan and have never heard of it. The results on google are far from overwhelming. I'm not saying it is false, but I think it should be re-worded. I'd hardly say "all his accomplishments are dampened because of this" or whatever. It was reported in the Boston media at the time of the allegations. I am not a sports fan so I didn't follow up on the story. But I do remember hearing about it. Postcard Cathy 22:01, 24 May 2007 (UTC)

The 1995 article was written by Sports Illustrated reporters William Nack and Lester Munson (a former attorney), and is hosted on the SI/CNN website.

Here is an excerpt that illustrates the gravity of the matter: 'While portrayed for years by the image-makers in Boston as a gentle giant who was as large in class and character as in stature, Parish, according to his former wife, Nancy Saad, was a domestic terrorist. *** According to Saad, Parish then grabbed her by the throat and threw her out the door, into the hallway, and she remembers being punched and thrown into a wall and spinning and thumping off the door of an adjacent room. The next thing she recalls is falling dizzily to the floor and lying there supine, looking up at a stranger's face, that of an older man with salt-and-pepper hair who was wearing a dress shirt. I am a big fan of Parish, yet even I realize that the accusations of spousal abuse deserve more attention than a throw-away sentence at the very end of the entry, in the Legacy section of all places. Furthermore, it is well known that Parish has been arrested or cited, on more than one occasion for possession of marijuana, yet there is not one single mention of this in the entry.
