American Historical Association
editWhen was Robert Darnton president of the American Historical Association? The second paragraph said it was in 1999 and the last paragraph says 1997-1998.--Lainem499 (talk) 21:10, 27 May 2008 (UTC)
- According to the AHA website, Darnton served in 1999. The position was held by Joyce Appleby in 1997 and Joseph C. Miller in 1998. I amended the text today. SteveStrummer (talk) 18:14, 3 August 2011 (UTC)

Robert Darnton
editI have just looked at my Wikipedia page and have found some errors, and I also can supply some missing information. --My wife is Susan Darnton (not Nina Darnton as appears on the page) --I received the Gutenberg Prize in 2004. --I was a Junior Fellow in the Harvard Society of Fellows from 1965 to 1968. --I was president of the International Society for Eighteenth-Century Studies from 1987 to 1991. --I was a trustee of the Oxford University Press from 1994 to 2007. --I received the Los Angeles Times Book Prize in 1984 for The Great Cat Massacre and Other Episodes in French Cultural History. --You list Marie-Alyx Revelat as co-author of Gens de lettres, gens du livre. In fact, I wrote the book in French as sole author. Mme Revelat translated one of my earlier books. --You mention an honorary doctorate from the University of Uppsala. That is accurate, but I have received 15 honorary doctorates and don't understand why Uppsala has been singled out. --Correct: I was president of the American Historical Association in 1999. --My latest book will be published next year: The Revolutionary Temper, Paris, 1748-1789. 74.104.132.127 (talk) 19:11, 19 September 2022 (UTC)
