Requested move 18 February 2015 edit

The following is a closed discussion of a requested move. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on the talk page. Editors desiring to contest the closing decision should consider a move review. No further edits should be made to this section.

The result of the move request was: Move. We have a very rough consensus to move after over 6 weeks. Several participants also discussed the possibility of a merger; discussion on that can continue below. Cúchullain t/c 12:41, 6 April 2015 (UTC)Reply

Regional school unit (Maine)Regional school unit – There are no other Regional School Unit articles in the encyclopedia, so the disambiguation is technically not needed. However, Prince Edward Island did use RSUs up to the 90s -- see List of school districts in Prince Edward Island. Since it's possible that articles could be created for these districts, I'd suggest leaving it disambiguated for now. --Relisted.  — Amakuru (talk) 21:31, 26 February 2015 (UTC) SarekOfVulcan (talk) 23:37, 18 February 2015 (UTC)Reply

The article is not very clear. Are these equivalent to a consolidated bunch of districts? If so, I would endorse a merge to school district. If they are another layer of administration above the s.d.s,then a merge to Intermediate School District would be appropriate. Whichever the case, keep the term as a redirect. Just cause they call the same thing by a different name is not a reason to have a full article. And from this article as it stands there is not enough info to even tell what the redirect target should be. Without a merge somewhere, imo this article should be deleted. It would be a redirect to School district, I think. If the state's attempt to force consolidation and the subsequent rejections by many communities isn't considered notable enough, I don't have a problem with it. Let's settle the title while we're here, though, so we don't have to discuss it twice. :-) --SarekOfVulcan (talk) 13:25, 20 February 2015 (UTC)Reply
  • Support proposal, but consider merging - as this is a move request, not a deletion of merge discussion, I would first say that the move as proposed is fine. The Maine units are clearly primary for the term "regional school unit" so no disambiguator is needed. However, as mentioned by John from Idegon, it is unclear if this topic is notable enough in its own right, and the article is short. It might be worth merging the few sentences here into List of school districts in Maine and making this a redirect to either there or school district.  — Amakuru (talk) 11:56, 6 March 2015 (UTC)Reply
