Why does this article single out KJV, making no comment on any other English language translations? Really, if we're going to give how KJV translates the word, we ought to give the same information about some others.
- KJV
- These are the beasts which ye shall eat: the ox, the sheep, and the goat, The hart, and the roebuck, and the fallow deer, and the wild goat, and the pygarg, and the wild ox, and the chamois.
- NIV
- These are the animals you may eat: the ox, the sheep, the goat, the deer, the gazelle, the roe deer, the wild goat, the ibex, the antelope and the mountain sheep.
There doesn't seem to be a one-to-one correspondence between the animals listed in the two versions, but it would appear that NIV translates it as simply "antelope". Who here can supply the information about other versions? -- Smjg (talk) 16:40, 30 August 2010 (UTC)
Such as the word is used in English at all (which it isn't) it would be "pygarg" because of the Greek and KJV. Disamb links should be added to possible scientific/latin species names. In ictu oculi (talk) 08:52, 18 September 2011 (UTC)
