An editor replaced this page with a redirect, citing the result of a move discussion in justifying removing this page's content. I participated in that discussion; there was consensus that the apricot page should not be moved to Prunus armeniaca but there was no consensus (or indeed much discussion at all) about having one page on the fruit and a separate page on the tree. I guess we should have that discussion now.
Based on the current content of apricot, we're saying that apricots are fruits that come primarily from Prunus armeniaca but that there are also fruits from other Prunus trees which are also known as apricots. Many of those other Prunus trees have their own pages so it's logical that P. armeniaca should as well.
That being said, the page as it exists as of this edit is basically a copy-paste of an old version of apricot, and should be trimmed so that it is about the tree and not the fruit. I'll get to work on that. Ivanvector (talk) 20:35, 20 February 2014 (UTC)Reply
