Talk:Popeye the Sailor (film series)

Any info on future volumes? edit

Now that the black-and-white Popeye DVD sets are squared away, is there any info on the color Famous Studio Popeye cartoon volumes covering the cartoons from 1943's Her Honor the Mare to 1957's Spooky Swabs? Steelbeard1 (talk) 22:48, 12 June 2008 (UTC)Reply

The best info available that's honestly source-able is on the page. However there is one question to bring up. This page lists the 60s release as "limited", even though there is nothing about that at all verifiable on the product or ever being mentioned by Warner Archive. Those releases only go down if they plan to work on it again or they lose rights. If we are assuming it's "limited" because Warner Brothers might one day lose license to Popeye, then technically aren't the first three earlier era volumes just as "limited"? They won't exist anymore if WB loses the license either.24.35.53.147 (talk) 12:01, 31 March 2015 (UTC)Reply

Popeye the Sailor (animated cartoons)Popeye the Sailor (film series) – Article is currently under non-standard disambiguation – under WP:NCFILM, article should be disambiguated with "film series" instead, and thus be at Popeye the Sailor (film series) (or, possibly, at Popeye the Sailor (short film series)). See also, this discussion in WT:NCFILM. --IJBall (contribstalk) 16:28, 21 November 2018 (UTC)Reply

  • Support The current title is ambiguous with the later television series which were also animated cartoons. Timrollpickering 17:29, 21 November 2018 (UTC)Reply
  • Support per nom and Timrollpickering. --Gonnym (talk) 19:59, 21 November 2018 (UTC)Reply
  • Move. Per IJBall and Timrollpickering. --Bsherr (talk) 00:50, 22 November 2018 (UTC)Reply
  • Move to Popeye the Sailor (short film series) as it more concise and avoids confusion. JC7V (talk) 22:24, 28 November 2018 (UTC)Reply
    • While that "may avoid confusion" it's actually less concise (and is also a "non-standard" disambiguator). Not that I'm necessarily opposed to the idea – just pointing that out... --IJBall (contribstalk) 13:39, 29 November 2018 (UTC)Reply
