Difference between a Clipboard and a Shitajiki edit

I don't understand the difference. Could someone explain what makes a Shitajiki so significant as to merit it's own page when it sounds just like a Japanese word for "clipboard?" --Charizardpal (talk) 20:42, 5 February 2008 (UTC)Reply

They are not clipboards. If you look at Pencilboard.net which linked to and is a database, you will have an idea what they look like. It's not mentioned in the article, but I recall reading somewhere that the reason they're used is that the writing paper in Japan is thin, so as stated, they're placed to prevent marking on the sheets below and to provide a stiffer surface for writing. I would argue that shitajiki would merit their own page as a stationery item unique to Japan that are also used for merchandise tie-ins with anime and manga series.
