RelevanceEdit

While the forces supporting the gubernatorial aspirations of Pedro Rosselló will be splitting their votes among two congressional candidates, the forces supporting the gubernatorial aspirations of Luis Fortuño will be concentrating their votes in one candidate, Pierluisi, since the Senate president decided not to run. These are very relevant facts: two rossellista candidates affect each other's vote-getting capacity; the Senate president's decision strengthens Pierluisi. The reality that Fortuño, Pierluisi and MacClintock have been friends and shared academically and politically for decades is also a significant and positive fact.

I look forward to discussing this matter on this page and reaching consensus before final edits, if any, are made.Pr4ever 23:43, 24 October 2007 (UTC)

washpoEdit

Pedro Pierluisi does not have a washpo article because he is a non voting member. James Michael DuPont (talk) 03:46, 18 July 2013 (UTC)

Governor Pierluisi??Edit

I think we need an explanation here, as to how the acting secy of state succeeded to the governorship. GoodDay (talk) 22:17, 2 August 2019 (UTC)

This news article (in Spanish) tells us the specific law that makes the secy of state succeed to the governorship. But some people believe this law - Artículo 1 de la Ley Núm. 7 de 24 de julio de 1952 - is unconstitutional... According to talking heads on Telemundo Live today a senator could challenge his succession, or Nancy Pelosi could send him a message of support. --The Eloquent Peasant (talk) 22:29, 2 August 2019 (UTC)
He wasn't secretary of state when Governor Rossello resigned, however. GoodDay (talk) 22:34, 2 August 2019 (UTC)
True. But he was before the effective date of said resignation.--The Eloquent Peasant (talk) 13:32, 5 August 2019 (UTC)
He was never confirmed as secretary of state, he swore in as governor without any sort of process, hence why all the controversy and hearings that are going to be happening this week. Jay Starz (talk) 14:12, 5 August 2019 (UTC)
Like Jay said, he was never confirmed as secretary of state & so the secretary of justice should have become governor upon Rossello's resignation. GoodDay (talk) 18:04, 5 August 2019 (UTC)
If the SCOPR nullified his swear in as governor, then his incumbency in the office was in effect stricken out. Wanda Vázquez would be the 13th. Old School WWC Fan (talk) 20:33, 7 August 2019 (UTC)
Agree with Old School WWC Fan; if his installation as Secretary of State and Governor was invalid, he was never Governor in the first place and should not be listed as the 13th. 331dot (talk) 21:17, 7 August 2019 (UTC)

Hi- I just want to give everyone the source document where the Supreme Court of Puerto Rico decides that Pierluisi was never governor: http://www.ramajudicial.pr/opiniones/2019/Opinion-desicion/Judgment.pdf --Luispr42 (talk) 23:19, 7 August 2019 (UTC)
