When these issues are addressed, the article can be renominated. If you feel that this review is in error, feel free to have it reassessed. Thank you for your work so far.— Leomk0403 (talk) 10:26, 15 November 2021 (UTC)Reply

@Leomk0403: This feels like a very rushed review. Criteria 6 states that articles should be illustrated if possible, which it is not for an island endemic with no free use images. The only image that could be added is range map (which I could request from Cephas). In any case, many taxa GA pass without images if none of that species are available. The article is also broad in its coverage, as it covers all the scientific literature on the species that I could find. It's certainly too large to be merged anywhere, as a genus level pages would not be able to adequately cover this much species level detail. If you think there are issues with the prose, I am open to suggestions for improving that. AryKun (talk) 11:41, 15 November 2021 (UTC)Reply
  • Leomk0403 You're clearly a newish and incompetent editor. If you don't have idea what you're doing, revert all of this mess.112.163.180.40 (talk) 13:03, 15 November 2021 (UTC)Reply
No need to bite the newbies. AryKun (talk) 01:59, 16 November 2021 (UTC)Reply

  • Howdy folks! I see Leomk0403 is a GA newbie. No worries Leomk, my first GA review was a little awkward too :) AryKun, with your assent, I can help Leomk through the process and watch over their work and make sure that Leomk gets up to speed and this article is reviewed properly and thoroughly. Ping me with your response, and I'll reply with next steps. CaptainEek Edits Ho Cap'n! 06:31, 16 November 2021 (UTC)Reply
@CaptainEek: I have no problem with you helping Leomk through this. AryKun (talk) 09:54, 16 November 2021 (UTC)Reply
User:Leomk0403 are you still interested in reviewing this? CaptainEek Edits Ho Cap'n! 07:53, 19 November 2021 (UTC)Reply
  • Before I forget, I think an easy solution to the illustration problem is to include a photo or two of its preferred habitat. We must certainly have at least one photo of the islands it lives on... CaptainEek Edits Ho Cap'n! 06:49, 16 November 2021 (UTC)Reply
  • No, i think i need to be more experienced now, and for the picture problem,@Arykun, check GBIF and iNaturalist. They could have free-licensed photos. (iNauralist2Commons is a good tool.) Leomk (Don't shout here, Shout here!)

P.S: iNat is more used, but GBIF contains more Wiki-compatible licenses (e.g Attribution) Leomk (Don't shout here, Shout here!) 08:26, 19 November 2021 (UTC)Reply

  • P.P.S : script can be found here
  • Great news! It seems like there is a sighting of it on eBird! If somebody could contact the owner, we could add the photo.Leomk (Don't shout here, Shout here!) 08:36, 19 November 2021 (UTC)Reply

@CaptainEek: Will you be taking over this review if Leomk doesn't want to continue? AryKun (talk) 14:04, 19 November 2021 (UTC)Reply

@AryKun Yes I can, but I have American holidays and then final exams coming up so admittedly I might not get to it until after finals end mid-December. If that's too long you could put it back up on the GA list. CaptainEek Edits Ho Cap'n! 22:25, 22 November 2021 (UTC)Reply
I'm fine with waiting. AryKun (talk) 09:22, 23 November 2021 (UTC)Reply
If I haven't gotten to it by Dec 18 feel free to leave me a message and I'll get on it. CaptainEek Edits Ho Cap'n! 21:42, 23 November 2021 (UTC)Reply

CaptainEek's Review edit

AryKun Very well done, only a few comments

  • Every paragraph save one starts with "The pale mountain pigeon". That is awfully repetitive. Try to vary the sentence structures a bit. You could use "This pigeon", "This bird", or rearrange the order of the sentence. You can also just use "it" and "their...(breeding habitat, for example)".
  • "moves locally" I would add a sentence or a note clarifying that it does not migrate
  • A photo of the habitat, please
  • roosting in hundreds in crater rim forests is ungrammatical. They are either roosting in groups of hundreds, or roosting by the hundreds, if I have assumed the meaning correctly
  • Can you fill out the "Pigeons-IOC bird list" citation more? It doesn't have enough info to prevent link rot.

Keep up the great work! CaptainEek Edits Ho Cap'n! 03:24, 21 December 2021 (UTC)Reply

Thank you! I have gone ahead and passed it. The bot should come by soon and do the rest. CaptainEek Edits Ho Cap'n! 20:29, 21 December 2021 (UTC)Reply
