VIP/VIP Mix

Personally I like to refer to them as VIP mixes, because otherwise... VIP what? It emphasises a difference from the original mix, and it's more widely used than simply "VIP". See these references for some decent examples.[1][2][3][4][5][6] DJUnBalanced (talk) 20:36, 26 December 2012 (UTC)

Release Date Chart "The Nest"

Hi, could please someone edit the Nest section? I'd do it by myself but I don't know how to edit it without screwing the whole layout up. Well, here is the data:

Today (21.01.13) a new release came out: Defiant Order EP by Birdy Nam Nam. The release date of Toys Riot by Teddy Killerz is wrong. The EP will be available on 11.02.13

Hi Adrian. Defiant Order is covered under the standard releases section as it comes out worldwide tomorrow. The Nest got it a day early. Toys Riot was originally going to be 2 tracks but they've added one and pushed the release date forward. I'll change the date. Blaise says that Dog Blood are releasing a remix EP with the M Machine remix of Middle Finger too. I will try and update accordingly as more details come up. So lets get this page straightened out.

Apparently I'm doing this wrong. So let's get correct info on the page.

You want a selfie of me at the Nest right now? lol I dont know what you want to prove #1. Owsla is distributed through Atlantic which is owned by Warner. Distribution is not the same as being a "parent" company. Any information on Wikipedia needs a source to comply with Wikipedia's Verifiability policy, its just like Wayne Rooney scoring for Manchester United in a game, many people know he has scored but it still needs to be verified when being mentioned on Wikipedia. No a selfie at the Nest isn't a reliable source of information. Please read WP:RS- only things on that list will be accepted as reliable sources. Newspaper/magazine articles, web content that isn't self-published are all good examples of reliable sources, which is what's required by Wikipedia.

Joseph2302, the source listed does not say that the parent company is Warner, you seem to have it backwards. The proof needs to be that the parent is Warner. If the information is wrong, it can be contested and removed. The fact that he does not know all of the rules does not mean much. I doubt there is an article stating that the company is not owned by Warner, who would write articles about companies that are not parent companies of other companies? It seems he is learning the rules which is why he is commenting on this page. Artist list

I agree with this edit by Theroadislong that the list of artists is not really needed so I have removed it again. The same artists are mentioned in the releases section and Wikipedia articles are not intended to be a directory of names. As it is, the article already is almost one long list of names/albums which probably should be trimmed to down to eliminate any artist/album without a stand-alone article or which is not supported by a reliable source of some kind per WP:LSC. Major artists of the label could probably be described in text in another section per WP:PROSE, but simply adding list after list of names makes the article more like a PR page for the label than something suitable for an encyclopedia in my opinion. The article has been tagged with Template:Refimprove since 2012, so instead of adding more and unsourced information to the article, it would be better to try to improve the quality of the article by subtracting out all the promotional unsourced stuff and finding better sources about the label itself for the main part of the article at the beginning. Maybe the discography section could be split off into its own list article if enough sources can be found per WP:SAL.

@OWSLAjosh666: You're welcome to discuss things here and clarify why this information should be included. You're not leaving any edit sums for your edits. In fact, it looks like you've never left an any edit sum for any of the 620 edits you've made since you started editing in at the end of July 2016. Edit sums and talk pages are how Wikipedia editors communicate with one another to discuss ways to improve the article and establish a consensus on how to best do that. Your choice of username already gives the impression that you may have a conflict of interest with respect to OWSLA so it would be helpful to other editors if you could try to explain why you're making a certain edit and which policy/guideline you're basing the edit on. -- Marchjuly (talk) 10:00, 5 November 2016 (UTC)

I agree with this removal. Most of the content appears to be added by employees who seem to misunderstand that the article is not about promoting or being a catalog for the label's artists or releases. One in particular, OWSLAjosh666, has been advised about this at User talk:OWSLAjosh666#Conflict of interest editing, but has made no attempt to discuss things. The COI issue was brought up at Wikipedia:Conflict of interest/Noticeboard/Archive 109#OWSLAjosh666, but it got archived without being resolved.

I think it might be helpful to collapse the table just to make it easier to follow this discussion without having to do so much scrolling. -- Marchjuly (talk) 04:24, 23 February 2017 (UTC)

OWSLA IV

On 12 December 2012, OWSLA launched their subscription program, "The Nest" later named "OWSLA IV" to distinguish it from the blog "Nest HQ". This subscription is exclusive via drip.fm. Other participating labels include Mad Decent and Fool's Gold Records. The program allows monthly subscribers to early access or exclusive tracks and remixes, remix stems, DJ sets, discounts, and other rare/exclusive items.

Current & Former Artists?

Taking a quick glance at the Owsla official page artist roster, it only appears there are less than 10 artists currently signed to the label.

Seems disingenuous to list dozens of artists if most of them are former. Anyone find secondary source confirming current artist roster elsewhere on the web?
