Model In South Africa edit

Hi

First off i'm from South Africa, and I owned an Opel Rekord that i do not see in this article. It was produced here from around 1990 to 1994.

There are 3 models that i did not see in this article, they are as follows:

Opel Rekord 380i GSi: It had 4 wheel disk brakes with ABS. Front discs ventilated. Engine was a naturally aspirated GM 3.8L V6 L27 in 90 degrees with 8.5 : 1 compression. Was rear wheel driven 5 speed manual. GSi seats with leather trim.

Opel Rekord 380i CD:

Same as the GSi except that it was a (i think) 5 speed automatic with full leather seats. Came out standard with electric windows.

Opel Rekord 380iE: Only saw these on the road, dont know to much about it. Should be running the same engine (3.8L V6 L27).

Maybe it was south africa specific, i dont know - i have some pictures of my rekord someone. I will try and post them.

Since Opel was using the Omega name at the time, it's more likely the South African Rekord was a rebadged Holden Commodore (the American 3.8L V6 seems to back this theory). --Pc13 12:08, 7 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

1957 Opel Estates in Thailand edit

Hi - I'm in Chiangmai, Thailand. I have found 2 Opel Rekord (Olympia ?) Estates - one is claimed to be 1957 vintage and the other is uncertain but of a very similar age. I am considering restoring them - one or both - and would like to know more about them. If they are the same exactly - hard to tell because they are far apart - I may only restore one and use the other as a spares source vehicle. Any help to identify would be appreciated. I have photos if these would be helpful. Hope to hear soon. Malcolm Logan

  • Hello, nice to hear about your cars. Which model generation are they? Please have a look at the main article and compare. Opel Olympia Rekord runs from 1953 to 1957, Opel Rekord P1 runs from 1957 to 1960. Both cars were also produced as station wagons which were called "Caravan". The advertising was : "This is a car and this is a van, it's a caravan."

Removed statement about Opel Rekord E being sold in Venezuela edit

The statement copied below was deleted because it is inaccurate. The editor confused the Opel Rekord E with the Chevrolet Monza, the Brazilian version of the Opel Ascona C, whose external appearance does bear a passing resemblance to the much larger Rekord E. Furthermore, in Venezuela the Chevrolet Monza was not intended as a direct replacement of the Chevrolet Chevette, but rather as a step upmarket from the basic Chevette. Statement which was removed:

In Venezuela, the Opel Rekord was sold as the successor of the Chevrolet Chevette, but keeping the name. It sold through 1982 to 1986, in sedan and wagon models. This car is still commonly seen and restored, since its spare parts are still made and sold. It keeps a high level of popularity mainly because of the low prices of cars and parts. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Matsuri626 (talkcontribs) 21:44, 28 October 2010 (UTC)Reply

Opel Rekord D Automobile Information Box edit

Shinjin Rekord never came to the market. GMK Rekord was introduced in the market after GM Korea took over Shinjin Motors. See the information at Shinjin Motors and Daewoo Royale. Rjluna2 (talk) 13:12, 23 May 2014 (UTC)Reply
