The name edit

I have to know - and neither the article nor the website tells me - but where does the name come from? Was there a Norbert Dentressangle, or is it the names of the two co-founders, or does dentressangle mean something in French? -Ashley Pomeroy (talk) 21:38, 17 April 2010 (UTC)Reply

It's his full name as far as I knew. MickMacNee (talk) 23:19, 17 April 2010 (UTC)Reply
Yes, Norbert Dentressangle is a person. He was born in the Ardèche region of France in 1954. His father, Georges Dentressangle, was a mechanic by trade and set up his own haulage business after the Second World War. This small, family business struggled to make ends meet in the fragmented French haulage industry of the 60s and 70s. Out of loyalty and a desire to help his parents, Norbert Dentressangle entered the family business in 1974, at the age of 20. He tenaciously transformed the business in the ensuing years and became the chairman, managing director, and majority shareholder of the public limited company of Norbert Dentressangle in 1981. To this day, Norbert Dentressangle remains the chairman and majority shareholder of the company that bears his name. BlossomKiwi (talk) 16:03, 24 August 2010 (UTC)Reply
Well, now I know. I apologise to all the people in the world who are called Dentressangle, but in English it sounds oddly baroque. On a more serious level, presumably the company was originally named after Georges; at what point did Norbert name it after himself? -Ashley Pomeroy (talk) 18:06, 1 April 2011 (UTC)Reply
That info from you (BlossomKiwi) doesn't quite fit with what the article says, about the company being formed in London in 1979. If your information is correct, and it certainly sounds convincing, then the company formed in France "after the second world war". Not in London 1979. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 84.155.175.45 (talk) 13:28, 4 June 2012 (UTC)Reply
