"he was known best in the art world as, Nick Evans" edit

This claim in the lead "he was known best in the art world as, Nick Evans" does not appear to be supported by the sources that are available online. This form of his name is not mentioned in the Guardian obituary,[1] or the Radio Wales webpage,[2] or the Glynn Vivian source.[3] The obituary in the Independent[4] only mentions 'Nick' in passing, giving priority to 'Nicholas'. Do any of the off-line sources support the claim?

It is true that he signed at least some of his painings as 'Nick Evans'.[5] I propose that we change the sentence to:

His work was signed, and he was sometimes known as, Nick Evans.

...or to the less clumsy:

He signed his paintings Nick Evans and was sometimes known by that name.

If he truly was known best in the art world as Nick Evans then we should change the article title to Nick Evans (artist). Verbcatcher (talk) 06:19, 2 September 2022 (UTC)Reply
