Statue of stainless steel or of titanium?

It seems that the English and the Russian versions of this article don't fully correspond with each other. The following sentence is now written in the English version: "Built by Yevgeny Vuchetich, the titanium[1] statue stands 62 meters tall upon the museum building with the overall structure measuring 102 m and weighing 560 tons." In the Russian version: "Планировалось, что монумент будет покрыт сусальным золотом, однако от этой идеи отказались. Металлический каркас сделан из нержавеющей стали, выплавленной в Запорожье. Стальную обшивку сварили специалисты Института электросварки имени Патона из листов размером 50х50 см толщиной 1,5 мм. Суммарная длина швов составила около 30 км. Скульптура таких размеров была сделана впервые в СССР. Она изготовлена на Киевском заводе имени Парижской Коммуны с учетом рекомендаций института электросварки имени Е. О. Патона по сварке элементов из нержавеющей стали отдельными блоками-секциями весом 25—30 т." So what material is correct "stainless steel" or "titanium"? Doesn't this article deserve a more descriptive photo of the monument?

Maybe one that would show the whole monument? I'd do that myself if I knew how to..79.179.33.149 (talk) 19:15, 11 December 2014 (UTC)

Note that any detailed photo uploaded to Commons (see commons:Category:Monument to the Motherland, Kiev) will be deleted there until 2081 (70 years after the death of Vasyl Borodai) due to the missing Freedom of Panorama in Ukraine. Length of the sword. The article maintains that the sword was cut off because it had been built higher than the tip of the Lavra's belfry. The given reference does not contain this information. As far as I know the story regarding the sword length is an urban legend, which I personally have heard first time ~30 years ago, during my childhood. That time the legend was told in a way that the length had been changed during the construction, because of some discussion between the church representatives and the city's administration. Nevertheless these stories are all legends; at least I have never seen any credible confirmation of them. According to the official version the height of the statue was harmonized with the highest edifices around, this is why the height of the Lavra's belfry is close, or actually indeed a bit higher than the height of the statue.

  It has not been renamed yet, but the official announcement of the coming renaming had been made by the director of the memorial complex which the monument is a part of. Since the article has already been renamed from the old Soviet-era name, it would make sense to rename it once again to a more correct version, maybe after the renaming procedure is complete. • Support; although at the moment there are various names being used in English-language sources, the most common of which seem to be "Mother Ukraine" and "Motherland Monument", the statue will be officially renamed to "Mother Ukraine" on 24 August, see [2], and we should then use that, on the basis that it will be both official and already in existing use in English-language WP:RS. — The Anome (talk) 10:59, 7 August 2023 (UTC)

But as this seems very likely to become the common and official name, it should be moved there.
