Untitled edit

Proposing to move according to his own official website, a google search, and following the naming on Wikipedia for higher clergy such as cardinals and patriarchs, see also Grand Ayatollah Ali al-Sistani for example. Gryffindor 02:05, 6 January 2006 (UTC)Reply

Moved. —Nightstallion (?) 08:28, 11 January 2006 (UTC)Reply

Typo? "Grand Ayatallah Fazel Lankarani " All other spellings are Ayatollah I'm going to change the spelling - please revert if I'm mistaken? J 02:28, 8 December 2006 (UTC)Reply

I think you're right to change as this is the most common spelling. My understanding is that it means Sign of God - "Ayat" = Sign "o" = of "Allah" = God; sometimes it can be transliterated in other ways hence Ayatallah but we should stick with the most common way AndrewRT(Talk) 18:36, 8 December 2006 (UTC)Reply

Any additional comments:

I am removing his title from the article name and reverting to name only as per WP:MOS about honorifics-Elizabeth II of the United Kingdom doesn't have her queenly title, and Akihito isn't referred to imperially in his namespace. Chris 17:44, 16 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

Given Pmanderson's comment above, and Capitalistroadster's comment below, it seems that the name with "Mohammad" is preferred. This article has been renamed from Grand Ayatollah Fazel Lankarani to Mohammad Fazel Lankarani as the result of a move request. --Stemonitis 16:37, 23 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

Start classification edit

I have classified this article as a start. It needs to be chronologically rearranged so events are roughly listed in the order that they happened. At his death, the media was reporting that his name was Mohammad Fazel Lankarani so perhaps the article should be moved again. Capitalistroadster 18:19, 16 June 2007 (UTC)Reply
