Elsie/Elyse

edit

Most sources have her name as Elsie, while the New York Times and the Oregon Historical Society have it as Elyse. I believe the plaque says "Elsie"? I'm going to add both names to this article and to fire balloon, but what was her name really? I'll assume Elsie was a misspelling perpetuated over the years? Archie Mitchell's later life

edit

I cut this from the balloon bomb article:

Reverend Mitchell later remarried, and two days before Christmas 1947, Mitchell and his bride, Betty Patzke Mitchell, sailed for Indo-China for two terms of missionary service with the Vietnamese people at Dalat. Mitchell's third term assignment was the Leprosarium at Ban Me Thuot, South Vietnam. Late afternoon on Wednesday, May 30, 1962, a group of about 12 armed Viet Cong entered the Leprosarium compound and abducted Dan Gerber, Dr. Vietti and Rev. Mitchell. Mrs. Mitchell and her four children were not harmed. Gerber, Vietti and Mitchell are still missing, and are presumed to have been murdered by the Viet Cong.

I think this info would be an interesting footnote to the article, but the sentences are directly copied and pasted from here and here. Katr67 (talk) 03:36, 4 April 2008 (UTC)Reply
