Finger-pointing at Croats? edit

This line: "At the same time around 150.000 Serbs have been cleansed or killed on teritories controlled by Croats." looks like "But THEY did it too" kind of talk. Moreover, it's incongruous -- how this relevant to Babić's case? If it belongs somewhere, it belongs in an article about Croatian atrocities or ethnic cleansing, not here. --Rhombus 18:53, 9 March 2006 (UTC)Reply

Hanging? edit

03/06/2006 13:34 Phelixxx: editors repeatedly changed their mind about the way Babic died. Does anyone have reliable information about his alleged hanging?

I can't find any source that states directly he hanged himself. Is it just someone assuming that this is the most likely suicide method used by prisoners? David | Talk 12:37, 6 March 2006 (UTC)Reply
I found the info here, but the info is in Croatian. It says he hanged himself. --Dijxtra 13:09, 6 March 2006 (UTC)Reply

Around August 1991, Babić became a party to what war crimes prosecutors would later describe as a "joint criminal enterprise" to permanently forcibly remove the non-Serb population of the territory under his control in order to make them part of a new Serb-dominated state. His co-participants included Slobodan Milošević, other Krajina Serb figures such as Milan Martić, the Serbian militia leader Vojislav Šešelj

So was it the fact that he forced Non-Serbs out that got him the charge, the fact that he force Non-Serbsout AND had the 99.7% refenderum, or both?

Messy paragraph edit

The Vance plan went nowhere: the JNA did withdraw but simply turned over its weaponry to the Krajina Serbs, peace talks achieved nothing. The Croatian government signed Vance plan but never stop with attacks on UN protected teritories and like Krajina Serb authorities continued to make efforts to ensure that Serbs never return, destroying villages and cultural and religious monuments to erase the previous existence of the Serb inhabitants of the Krajina.

This is impossible to understand. Isn't the part in bold supposed to happen after the cleansing in 1995? 'cause in the text, it's written before it. And what does "like Kr. Serb authorities" mean? That they destroyed their own villages and religious monuments before fleeing? Or does it mean "as Kr.Seb authorities had done with Croatian villages and religios monuments before"? Either way, if I'm not mistaken, this whole paragraph should be moved to the end of the article. This thing needs to be fixed - and without POV deletes. --85.187.203.123 16:40, 14 March 2006 (UTC)Reply

OK, it is rather obvious that here Serb should be replaced with Croat. Now, I'm pretty sure that's NPOV, but I won't interfere here as I don't have relevant info, il just replace Serb->Croat as this is obvious lapsus calami. --Dijxtra 17:34, 14 March 2006 (UTC)Reply

Hardly calami. :) Just checked the history, the original version was: "and non-Serb refugees were not allowed to return. Indeed, the Krajina Serb authorities continued to make efforts to ensure that they could never return, destroying villages and cultural and religious monuments to erase the previous existence of the non-Serb inhabitants of the Krajina." So I guess some smart person confused it with the cleansing in 1995. --85.187.203.123 20:51, 14 March 2006 (UTC)Reply

reference edit

What does the reference regarding Tudjman have to do with Milan Babic? I don't want to get into an edit war over this, but I find it hilarious that someone is trying to excuse the seccessionist actions of the Serbs by a completely irrelevent quote to this person, which in no way affected his policies or personality. If this is the case, then I'm going to Tudjmans page and adding everything Vojislav Seselj said in the early 90s as an excuse, like this one. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0ZbnxLY24kU Regards. --Jesuislafete 00:06, 25 May 2007 (UTC)Reply

Yes, there's no need for the quote to be there. But you got some things wrong, it were Croats who made seccessionist actions, not Serbs. Nikola 08:29, 26 May 2007 (UTC)Reply

clean up edit

I wasn't sure what I was reading first--an article about Milan Babic, or the highlights of the war. I could see heavy POV-influenced inserts in here. Remember, this is an article on MILAN BABIC, not whatever you think the Croatian coat of arms means, how illegal you insist the Croatian succession was, not how Croats were "ethnically cleansing" Serbs in Vojvodina (!) and conspiracy theories on his death (although I can see why that is interesting, it has been confirmed and accepted that he committed suicide). --Jesuislafete (talk) 07:11, 6 March 2008 (UTC)Reply
