GA Review edit

This review is transcluded from Talk:Michelle McCool/GA1. The edit link for this section can be used to add comments to the review.
This article was nominated for good article status. The review began on October 24, 2009. Below is an evaluation of the article, according to the six good article criteria.

Reviewer: Giants27(Contribs|WP:CFL) 20:56, 24 October 2009 (UTC)Reply

1. Well written?:

Prose quality:
  • Michelle McCool first came to World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) as a competitor in the 2004 WWE Diva Search, losing to Christy Hemme. No need for "Michelle McCool", it can just be "McCool".
  • Melina defeated on June 30. Did McCool beat Melina or the other way around?
  • While in DSW, she was hospitalized after taking prescribed medication and was temporarily sidelined to recover. Firstly, it should be a prescribed medication and secondly, can you elaborate on this. Did she have an allergic reaction? A bad combination of pills?
  • On November 28, McCool was hospitalized with an enlarged kidney, a broken sternum, and an electrolyte imbalance. How'd she break her sternum?
Manual of Style compliance:
  • The lead should be a bit longer and should cover the entire article.

2. Factually accurate and verifiable?:

References to sources:
Citations to reliable sources, where required:
No original research:

3. Broad in coverage?:

Major aspects:
Focused:

4. Reflects a neutral point of view?:

Fair representation without bias:

5. Reasonably stable?

No edit wars, etc. (Vandalism does not count against GA):

6. Illustrated by images, when possible and appropriate?:

Images are copyright tagged, and non-free images have fair use rationales:
Images are provided where possible and appropriate, with suitable captions:
  • Images are missing WP:ALT text.

Overall:

Pass or Fail:
I'll place this on hold to allow for the changes to be made.--Giants27(Contribs|WP:CFL) 20:56, 24 October 2009 (UTC)Reply
If you feel the final result of this review has been in error, you may request a reassessment. If the article failed to attain Good Article status after a full review, it may be easier to address any problems identified above, and simply renominate it.
  • Alt text added, but I've never done it before; let me know if it isn't descriptive enough.
  • All the prose problems are fixed, except for the last one. She didn't know she had a broken sternum because she injured her back during an oversees tour, and the pain from that injury masked the broken sternum. When she went to the hospital for the other issues, she found out about the sternum injury, as well. Do you think I should explain all of that in the text? Or maybe in a footnote? Nikki311 20:32, 25 October 2009 (UTC)Reply
  • I've fixed up the alt text since, it shouldn't mention the subject by name.
  • A footnote could help since otherwise I'd have no idea why, a long explanation could disrupt the flow.--Giants27(Contribs|WP:CFL) 20:43, 25 October 2009 (UTC)Reply
Just noticed you finished up, nice work I'm now passing the article.--Giants27(Contribs|WP:CFL) 20:31, 30 October 2009 (UTC)Reply

Edit request from RadicalRhys297, 24 May 2010 edit

Okay so this is my first time sing Wiki so bare with me if I done something wrong. I noticed an error on this page of Michelle McCool. On the first paragraph and somewhere in her Lay-Cool history, you have said she was announced and is a Co-Womans Champion. This information is false as she is only announced as a 'Self-Professed' Co-Womens Champion. Officially, Layla is the ONLY WWE Womens Champion and McCool is not an official holder of the belt.

Heres the source that proves that as a fact: http://www.sescoops.com/wrestling-news/wwe-news/melina-injury-update-update-on-the-wwe-womens-title/

Footnote/University edit

Is there some way we can incorporate the footnote in the page better? It seems weird probably because it is the only one.If not, no big deal. Also, there is an article that states that she graduated from the University of North Florida and not Florida State University.Just thought I'd bring it up. Here's a link to the article [1]. This could be a typo but it's worth taking a look at. (MgTurtle (talk) 02:30, 26 July 2010 (UTC)Reply

NXT faces edit

It seems that laycool act like faces in NXT, kind of how michael cole acted like a heel (then became heel) i was wondering if this is worth mentioning? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.71.188.18 (talk) 01:04, 20 August 2010 (UTC)Reply

{{edit semi-protected}} Michelle is now the first ever WWE Unified Tag Team Champion, which she won at Night of Champions by defeating Melina.

Michelle's actual birthday edit

She has confirmed it via her Twitter account that her birthday is October 6, 1970. This would make her 40 not 30. My source is her verfied Twitter account. http://twitter.com/mccoolmichellel —Preceding unsigned comment added by 174.221.204.189 (talk) 14:26, 6 October 2010 (UTC)Reply

Nope, That was her wishing someone a happy birthday. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 91.107.15.51 (talk) 16:11, 6 October 2010 (UTC)Reply

Finishers. edit

How come on Layla El's wikipedia page, it says she uses "Diamond Dust" as a finisher yet she's only used this move once also Michelle McCool's wikipedia profile doesn't mention "Big Boot" as her finisher at all! —Preceding unsigned comment added by 91.107.15.51 (talk) 16:09, 6 October 2010 (UTC)Reply

Big Boot edit

Michelle McCool uses 'Big Boot' as a finisher, Cmon!? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 91.107.18.125 (talk) 20:11, 24 February 2011 (UTC)Reply

"LayCool Split, Feud with Layla, and Possible Release" edit

Michelle McCool is apparently taking time off from WWE, She hasn't been Released--If she had been Released it'd be announce on WWE.com and she wouldn't be wrestling on Sunday, Remember guys--'Loser leaves WWE' is kayfabe! —Preceding unsigned comment added by 2.25.173.139 (talk) 22:13, 30 April 2011 (UTC)Reply

  • Well she did lose a match with the stipulation of leaving the WWE. Then again, so did Cena and he didn't miss a single Raw, so yeah. DB (talk) 01:23, 4 May 2011 (UTC)Reply

Mostly Known For Her Time With The WWE edit

This is kind of a wierd bit at the start of the article, where it says she's a retired professional wrestler mostly known for her time with the wwe. I know this is the stnadard way to phrase things in these articles but It's not right in this case. Michelle Mccool never worked the independant wrestlnig scene, and never worked for any other wrestling company, she's only known for her time with the wwe, not mostly. Right? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.147.161.19 (talk) 19:21, 13 May 2011 (UTC)Reply

It says that because she has appeared on several other TV shows, as noted in the 'Other Media' section, but she is obviously best known for her appearances in the WWE. -- Fyrefly (talk) 21:24, 13 May 2011 (UTC)Reply

Return speculation edit

Apparently a post McCool made on Twitter is sparking one particular user to speculate on her return to WWE and consistently add it to the article with no legitimate citation of any sort, besides a mention of Twitter. McCool's post makes absolutely no mention of returning to the WWE. In fact, the word return does not even appear in the post. The post seems more to do with McCool getting back in shape after four months away from the ring. Even if the speculation was founded, it's still just speculation and doesn't belong in the article. Please refrain from adding this unfounded information. It is blatant abuse of WP:ALIVE. NJZombie (talk) 02:00, 29 September 2011 (UTC)Reply

Which name should be there? edit

@LM2000::@Starship.paint: I need your guys input on something on Michelle McCool's page. Should she be listed as her being married to Mark Calaway or The Undertaker. My take is she is married to the person not the character and it could put off the wrong image to people that their marriage is scripted and not real. There is an IP User_talk:96.254.48.155 who seems to think it should be The Undertaker and I have reverted it back twice as good faith edits as it since I started on here has been Mark Calaway. I have explained this to them on their talk page as well and informed them to come here if they want to get a consensus to change it and not get into an edit war about it. Your inputs would be appreciated.

Last I knew we were using WP:COMMONNAME in infoboxes, so The Undertaker would be correct in this case.LM2000 (talk) 01:53, 14 June 2016 (UTC)Reply
@LM2000: Alrighty then could you please revert it then, I'm already at 2 reverts not about to do 3 even on myself. I am wrong I am wrong.

Chris "WarMachineWildThing" (talk) 02:04, 14 June 2016 (UTC)Reply

Took care of it, Ill take my chances. I was wrong. Chris "WarMachineWildThing" (talk) 02:09, 14 June 2016 (UTC)Reply

You're fine. Self-reverting doesn't count as WP:3RR.LM2000 (talk) 02:34, 14 June 2016 (UTC)Reply
  • Yeah it's okay. We list Taker because more people know the ring name than real name. It is about recognizability starship.paint ~ KO 10:56, 14 June 2016 (UTC)Reply

Spouse: Ring name vs. Real name edit

Do we have a specific rule/guideline for this infobox parameter? Should we always use real names? --Wario-Man (talk) 07:53, 16 December 2020 (UTC)Reply
