56th and Wabasha edit

There's a Wabash Av. in Chicago. It does indeed intersect with 56th; I have been there on pilgrimage. I think he was either taking a liberty with the name, or at the time, The sign might have read Wabash A instead of Wabash Av. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.206.128.252 (talk) 03:08, 18 December 2017 (UTC)Reply

Extensive discussion of the "56 and Wabasha" issue at this blog post. It is likely that the lyric is "56 and Wabasha", referring to the intersection of Minnesota Highway 56 and South Wabasha Street in St. Paul MN that existed around the time of recording. Highway 56 was re-routed in 1974 and the streets renamed, so the intersection no longer exists in 2021. (It is probably now called South Wabasha & Cesar Chavez, or Cesar Chavez & George).
