Suspicion of book copying edit

There are signs that the text of this article may have been copied from a book without sufficient rewriting for an encyclopaedic article. Signs of this are the sudden appearance of the unlinked name "Stirling" as if we already know who this person is. Stirling's name first appears immediately after the Commander is named as William Smallwood, who plays no more part in the story so far as I can see. Another sign is the description of present day locations simply as street intersections, without having mentioned what city these are to be found. This seems to be a sign that the text comes from another work where the context of the battle having taken place in Brooklyn has been established. Numbers don't add up edit

From the section "Mustering and engagement" the text reads, "This group of Maryland troops became known to history as the Maryland 400 although they numbered about 260-270 men." Later in the same paragraph, "More than 100 men were captured and 256 killed, practically wiping the regiment out in the assaults in front of the Old Stone House.[1] Fewer than a dozen made it back to the American lines.[5]" If 256 were killed, "more than 100 were captured", and "fewer than a dozen" (10, let's say) escaped, then the total must have been at least ~366, much closer to the canonical 400 than the stated "260-270 men". Are we to assume that the captives were immediately executed and thus counted among the killed as well? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.190.149.214 (talk) 20:12, 20 October 2018 (UTC)Reply
