Alaric Alexander Watts seems likely to have been the first editor (1825-1826) and I am seeing some sources that suggest he was co-founder and sold his £500 stake in 1826. I don't have time to pursue this right now. - Sitush (talk) 00:54, 28 February 2018 (UTC)Reply

The ODNB (the current version, not that crappy 1911 one) confirms that Watts was editor for a year, and that he "established" the Courier, but not that he was a co-founder. I find it a little hard to believe that he would have had access to £500 to buy a stake in the newspaper, but I suppose stranger things have happened.
