I am a native speaker of german, i have a suggestion that might possibly improve the accessability of the text, but i am not sure about it:
In the section career, the 2nd sentence reads
She began another channel, maiLab (originally named schönschlau), which is funded by German public broadcasters ARD and ZDF and as of April 2020[update] has nearly 900,000 subscribers, in 2016.[1]
What about putting the words in 2016 to the beginning/front of the sentence? So it reads
