Tone-gawa Purity?

The Tone River, which is well known for its purity...

What exactly does this mean? Is it referring to water? Aren't all rivers, lakes etc full of pure water? Or is it something more spiritual? Because if it's to do with cleanliness I can testify to its factual inaccuracy. I've swum in the Maebashi stretch of the Tone-gawa and it is most definitely not clean. 1bj05hua (talk) 03:39, 2 April 2008 (UTC)
