Early life
editI am re writing my concern by following the advise of Ekdalian. Below text is taken from my reply to Ekdalian on my talk page.
No source clearly mentions Madan Mohan Malviya as a Kayastha particulalry except one wordpress blog which eventually mentions him as Kayastha Brahmin which is not any kind of caste. Any experience user who can understand what I want to say after reading my sources & arguements I provided.
The sources added by claiming him being a Kayastha are below
edit- 1. The first source is an aritcle of Pioneer which talks about mythical origin of Kayasthas not about Malviya. So this sources is completely waste here.
- 2. The second source is THE UNTAUGHT HISTORIAN which is a private wordpress website , which mentions him Kayastha Brahmin , now thw question is wtf is a Kayasth Brahmin ? And you know very well wordpress is web content management system that anyone can pay and start his own website.
- 3. The 3rd source is this Origins of the Kayastha Temperance Movement and in this article citation 27 says below thing :
The congruence between temperance workers and activists in other fields of endeavour is not confined to the Kayasthas. For instance, the following gentlemen, whose names figured prominently in the public life of North India in the late nineteenth and early twentieth century were also prominent in temperance activities in the late nineteenth century : Pandit Madan Mohan Malaviya; Ganga Prasad Varma; Bishan Narayan Dhar; Hamid Ali Khan; Pandit Ajodhia Nath; Pandit Bishamber Nath. The list is by no means complete.
- Here : not confined to Kayasthas means the names given like Pandit Madan Mohan Malaviya; Ganga Prasad Varma; Bishan Narayan Dhar; Hamid Ali Khan; Pandit Ajodhia Nath; Pandit Bishamber Nath are not Kayastha which eventually proofs he was not a Kayastha.
- 4. And the 4th source is this article in which written below thing :
There was, many years ago, a prize distribution at the Kayastha Pathshala at Allahabad where he (Malviya) and I had both gone. It was presided over by an English judge of the Allahabad High Court, who was accompanied by his unmarried young daughter, who looked the very picture of health and strength. At the close of the meeting Malayaji turned to me and said: “Did you notice anything?” I replied that I was myself thinking of that matter. He exclaimed, “when shall we have such girls inour country? (ibid, 107-8)
- Now after reading the paragrah it clearly shows Manmohan Singh & MM Malviya were gone to Kayastha Pathshala for prize distribution. And if this is a source than MM Singh can added as Kayastha(jokes apart)
- 5. Now 5th source is a tweet by a journo in which does not provide any source but wrote he was a Kayasth by his own will now same like him many journos do fake propoganda on twitter we should also believe them ? the answer is no until and unless there is a source.
- 6. Now I am giving you few more sources of him being a Brahmin:
- (i) BARTH RATNA PANDIT MADAN MOHANMALAVIYA HIGH - PRIEST OF INDIAN NATIONALISM (1861-1946.A.D) by Dr. M.RamagopalLecturer in HistoryS.A.R.M Degree College Allagadda, Kurnool District, ANDHRA PRADESH
- (ii) His Jayanti was celebrated by Gaur Brahmins every year as he was one of them. Some more link to this kind of news.
- (iii) Even he was criticised by orthodox Brahmins for his efforts to reform Hinduism as he was Brahmin.
- Now regarding to that Kayastha thing , Kayasthas as a community are doing online propoganda especially on Wikipedia. When I check history of the article Gaur Brahmins I found that they vandalized the whole wikipedia page of Gaur Brahmins. I am adding links below their vandalization :
- 1. This one claims there are no Gaur Brahmins but Kayasthas.
- 2. This one too in which he vandalized completley the whole page and he was the same guy who was re editing the page of MM Malviya and adding Kayastha in the article. You can cross check his contributions.
- I hope , I am able to put my points clearly.

- Hi! Arjayay , I wrote this regarding the caste issue of M.M Malviya. I debunked all the so called sources (except one random blog). Ekdalian said some experienced user will check this but now it's been 15 days no one checked this. So kindly please go through and cross verify the sources. Refutation of MMV being Kayastha.
editI recently went through this article and found a shocking claim in "Early life" of Madan Mohan Malaviya that he was probably a "Kayastha". To support this claim there are only 2 citations. Let's analyse these references.
- 1st Reference here notes that Madan Mohan Malaviya was a "Kayastha Brahmin" which implies that author was probably confused as both "Kayastha" and "Brahmin" are distinct communities.
- 2nd reference here does not even mentions that Madan Mohan Malaviya was a Kayastha.
Madan Mohan Malaviya founded the All India Brahmin Mahasabha(AIBM) in 1939 as mentioned [here which confirms him being a Brahmin. Vedant Katyayan (talk) 18:15, 27 October 2024 (UTC)
