Regarding User:Thkim2u's edits edit

User:Thkim2u has made edits to this article that violate Wikipedia's neutrality guidelines and has persisted despite notices placed on his talk page. He is certain that his edits are fair and unbiased, but here is a summary of his edits which I believe very clearly violates WP:NPOV by adding editorial biases:

  • Replacing most instances of "Miniso" with "Chinese company"
  • Changing the co-founders to "Miniso claims it was founded by..."
  • This incredible sentence: "but was found to be lying about Miniso's Japanese head office address (the address is Italian restaurant in Setagaya Ward[1]) and about the mysterious designer (no single Japanese knows about him[8]), with broken Japanese language on their homepages and products."
  • Changing the "Marketing" header to "Copycat Marketing"
  • Replacing an analysis conducted by AllianceBernstein on the company's marketing strategy with another incredible sentence: "Nevertheless, Miniso is just one of the numerous Chinese copycat brands such as Ximiso, Yoyoso, Minigood, iLahui, Kioda, 2358JM, DaheSo, Domesky, YuBiSo and UNYSO."

Additionally, these following edits are disruptive and don't have a clear rationale behind them

  • Removal of source for "revenue year" in the infobox and article
  • Removal of South Korea from the list of retail locations
  • Removal of very notable instance in the company's history regarding infractions of UN sanctions in North Korea
  • Removal of the Straits Times source
  • Removal of the Hong Kong Economic Journal source

I invite @Thkim2u:, as well as previous editors who have been involved in this situation @Gladamas: and @144.36.161.62:, to help me engage in a constructive conversation on how to satisfy Thkim2u's concerns without obviously violating Wikipedia's neutrality guidelines. This article has already made it very clear that Miniso is a Chinese company, and that it has run into controversy for marketing itself as Japanese. But if this can be made more clear without using weasel words and unbiased wording, then I am all ears for suggestions. --haha169 (talk) 07:27, 29 May 2018 (UTC)Reply

I've left several reminders on @Thkim2u:'s talk page and as well as on this page. I have detailed above why I believe their edits violate Wikipedia's neutrality policies, and hearing no response, I am going to revert them. --haha169 (talk) 06:57, 3 June 2018 (UTC)Reply
Soon after my revert, I was reverted by @Thkim2u:. They brought up several points, which I believe the article as it originally stood already addressed properly -- namely, that Miniso is a Chinese company, and that they have used Baidu Translate for their packaging. Additionally, they attest that the Japanese co-founder doesn't exist; without a source (the BrandZaar source doesn't state that "no Japanese know about him"), I don't think making that allegation is proper for Wikipedia. I have reached out to the editor requesting a discussion once again. --haha169 (talk) 17:43, 3 June 2018 (UTC)Reply

NPOV edit

This looks incredibly biased, should I add an NPOV tag to it?

Chinese - Japanese company? edit

The article seems to follow Miniso's marketing line in calling itself a Japanese company. Miniso started in China, its headquarters are in China, it is owned by a Chinese company, so why would anyone call it anything other than a Chinese company? Looking for responses opposed to changing "Chinese–Japanese low-cost retailer" to "Chinese low-cost retailer".

I would add that "Junya Miyake" is a fake. The name is taken from Junya Watanabe and Issey Miyake to put references to successful designers alongside Miniso pages in search results, there is no reliable confirmation of such person being a recognized designer or a real person at all. 213.227.252.40 (talk) 09:03, 8 January 2019 (UTC)Reply
  • @GSS:I suppose the media did not really fact-check the detail, which leaves room for the company to promote arbitrarily. For example, based on existing sources, it is clear that Miniso is headquartered in Guangdong, China where the company opens its first offline store. However, there are still sources stating that it is headquartered in Tokyo, Japan (e.g. the one from Sun Star). Also in the article from Pakistan Today: "In an interview with Singaporean publication The Straits Times, MiniSo founders had to defend the company’s Japanese origin and insisted that it is actually a Japanese designer brand, even though media reports say that when MiniSo launched in China, it had no outlet in Japan." There might be a staff member in Miniso who claims themselves to be named "Junya Miyake" in media interviews and news reports. But is Miniso really co-founded by the Japanese designer who, allegedly, graduated from Bunka Fashion College and has "Junya Miyake" as their real name? These are fairly questionable in view of that the company has been caught multiple times for fraudulent advertising (e.g. this by The Paper). See also this from Nikkei_Business_Publications and this by jp:藤本貴之 on Excite for the suspiciousness of the existence of "Junya Miyake".--虹易 (talk) 04:52, 21 September 2020 (UTC)Reply
I rewrote the sentence to present the situation that Miniso claims one thing, and local media reports have questioned this claim. I also removed Junya Miyake from the infobox based on SEC filings that only name one founder. If other reliable sources surface that contradict these decisions, we can update it then. I have removed the NPOV template because I think this satisfies the concerns in this talk page. --haha169 (talk) 01:17, 24 January 2021 (UTC)Reply

When was MINISO founded? edit

Under history it says founded in 2011, but in the sidebox it says "Founded 1973; 46 years ago". so when was it? 2011 or 1973? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Noam G (talkcontribs) 12:49, 18 December 2019 (UTC)Reply

Certainly not 1973. Either 2011[1] or 2013[2][3] in different sources.--虹易 (talk) 15:55, 27 August 2020 (UTC)Reply
I have changed the founding date to August 2009, based on the company's filings with the SEC. --haha169 (talk) 01:03, 24 January 2021 (UTC)Reply

According to the Miniso website and Google, Miniso was founded in 2013. The first store opened on November 15, 2013, further backing the possibility of Miniso being founded in 2013. DaisoAndMinisoLunatic (talk) 00:00, 5 March 2022 (UTC)Reply
