NPOV edit

The article doesn't seem to maintain a NPOV with the use of sentences like, "She has cultivated a devoted following, while many others despise her character for being snobby and pretentious." A copy-edit or re-write may be needed. Duchess of Bathwick (talk · contribs) 23:31, 12 May 2009 (UTC)Reply

This zero horse wonder needs to have her page removed. Does anyone give a rat's ass about this woman? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 75.100.81.160 (talk) 02:43, 14 May 2010 (UTC)Reply

She is of notability, and therefore is worthy of an article, popular demand does not contribute to wikipedia articles. --Willthacheerleader18 (talk) 00:04, 6 September 2010 (UTC)Reply
She has starred as a title character for many seasons on a pretty popular show, she has wrote a book and she also has a few semi-big songs that she released with slight success. I think enough people would find her notable and would want to know more about her! I think she is absolutely notable. Eruditess (talk) 20:28, 4 May 2022 (UTC)Reply

BLP vios edit

Until today's edits, the article contained uncited claims about a living subject's personal life, which is strictly prohibited by the policy at WP:BLP. Indeed, the cite that purportedly support her birth date did not say one word about that date. Also note that birthplace is a personal detail requiring citation, and that the place where a person is raised is not necessarily where they were born. See Alec Baldwin. Many small communities do not have hospitals, for example, and people are born in a nearby city. Note that Wikipedia disallows the wikia IMDb to be used as a reference citation for personal-life claims. --Tenebrae (talk) 23:24, 8 February 2016 (UTC)Reply

GNG Generally edit

There is likely enough press for the subject to establish notability. That said, the article includes flowery speech inappropriate to an encyclopedia. Here is my take on articles like this one: WP is not the Social Register.

The subject, as my cynical mother might describe her: Marry first for money, then for title, then for love. The Palm Beach police are very polite (to locals). She must have been way out of control. I recommend the following words be removed: aristocrat and prominence.

The article includes assertions about her former husband Alexandre de Lesseps that are unsupported and not described in his article, including his title and alleged infidelity. This article appears to violate WP:TABLOID. Rhadow (talk) 14:28, 26 December 2017 (UTC)Reply

Correct Alpabetizing of Name edit

Dispute: The French "de" used in the context of a proper name is "of" and is NOT considered a part of the proper surname "Lesseps" in the matter of alphabetizing. The page may be written in English, but the fact will always remain that Lesseps is the proper surname, French or English being equal or irrelevant, and should be alphabetized as such instead of by the PREPOSITION "de" meaning "of". Also, the "de" is not capitalized which also has a bearing on alphabetical order of a name. "If the prefix consists of an article or of a contraction of an article and a preposition, enter under the prefix: - La Bruyere, Rene - Des Granges, Charles-Marc Otherwise, enter under the part of the name following the preposition": - Musset, Alfred de - La Fontaine, Jean de. Our guideline for this is the sixth bullet point under WP:MCSTJR (!). However, it isn't clear to me how we are guided to sort a name of an American using a French surname. Thincat (talk) 08:11, 1 July 2019 (UTC)Reply
That is very interesting, nice to know! Eruditess (talk) 20:30, 4 May 2022 (UTC)Reply

Needs a reliable source edit

The last paragraph of the "Legal problems" section is sourced to the Daily Mail, which a RfC has found "is generally unreliable, and its use as a reference is to be generally prohibited". Moriori (talk) 01:08, 3 July 2019 (UTC)Reply

I've removed the whole paragraph mainly because it is best to wait for the case to be resolved but sourcing to the Daily Mail doesn't help. Thincat (talk) 16:31, 3 July 2019 (UTC)Reply
