Louis didn't die of pneumonia in prison edit

Since 2012, this article has said that "Louis ... died of pneumonia in prison at the age of sixteen". Some other articles, and the Greek wikipedia, have copied this information. In 2015, since sources are required these days, one footnote was added at the end of the text.

A: The source. It mentions Louis once. It confirms the place where he's buried, and gives the year of his death as c. 1444.

B: His life. Several contemporary sources and later reliable sources agree that Louis was released first, before John: he accompanied his mother Isabella to Naples in 1435 and returned to France in 1438. He was then active as Marquis of Pont-à-Mousson and in Lorraine. Yes, he died in about 1444. No mention of pneumonia: pneumonia was not recognised as a disease till later that this, so a medical history specialist source, or pure guesswork, would be needed to say that a 15th century person died of it.

So, unless anyone disagrees, I think I'll do some rewriting. Andrew Dalby 15:44, 10 June 2020 (UTC)Reply
