Redundant list

This list is a subset of the names found in the List of craters on the Moon. To be more beneficial (and less redundant), I'd like to suggest adding in the professions and nation of origin. Perhaps a sortable table could be used? Thanks. — RJH (talk) 21:06, 27 August 2007 (UTC)

Shahrukh Khan

The news which broke out on 25th Jan 2010 as reported in Times of India regarding a crater being named after Shahrukh Khan -

was later proven to be a hoax on 28th Jan 2010

– The form "with craters of X named after them" is awkwardly styled and, alongside the proposed nomination, suggestions are welcome as to other possible title forms. As for the Martian list, it is not one of craters, but primarily of people, analogous to the Lunar list. Both lists need improvement (for instance, I replaced, on the Lunar list, the redlink Nikolai Yakovlevich Ilin with Nikolai Yakovlevich Il'in and added Il'in (crater) and, on the Martian list, the misspelled and unlinked Lomosonov, with Mikhail Lomonosov — Lomonosov (Martian crater). —Roman Spinner (talk)(contribs) 15:24, 28 September 2017 (UTC)

• Oppose The current titles may not be particularly elegant, but "namesake" is misleading, since it could mean anyone who happens to have the same name as a lunar or martian crater. For example, Janet Asimov has the same name as Asimov (crater). PatGallacher (talk) 23:59, 29 September 2017 (UTC)
• Oppose. Namesake technically means "named after", so the craters are namesakes, not the people. Informally the term is used in both directions, but the proposed name sounds like a list of anyone named for a moon crater. StarryGrandma (talk) 15:33, 30 September 2017 (UTC)
