List of ambassadors of Great Britain to the Holy Roman EmperorList of ambassadors of Great Britain to the Holy Roman Empire – Per Category:Lists of ambassadors to the Holy Roman Emperor. Ambassadors are not sent to a person but to a state. Laurel Lodged (talk) 21:36, 30 January 2022 (UTC)Reply

  • Ambassadors are not sent to a person but to a state — I don't think this is necessarily true, and the Holy Roman Empire was not a state in the conventional sense; monarchs of various states were Holy Roman Emperor at different times, so it makes perfect sense for there to be an ambassador to the Holy Roman Emperor. The relevant question here is whether "ambassador to the Holy Roman Emperor" was the actual official title. The Wikipedia articles of several of those listed describe them as ambassadors to Austria instead. Rublov (talk) 19:38, 2 February 2022 (UTC)Reply
  • Oppose Certainly in the 17th and 18th centuries ambassadors were sent to a person in the case of the Holy Roman Emperor. Noel S McFerran (talk) 06:20, 6 February 2022 (UTC)Reply

See also Talk:List of ambassadors of the Kingdom of England to the Holy Roman Emperor#Requested move 30 January 2022 which was submitted a minute before this request, with the same |reason= given. Unless there is something significantly different in the nature of English and British ambassadors, both pages in Category:Lists of ambassadors to the Holy Roman Emperor should have been discussed in a single multi-page RM discussion. – wbm1058 (talk) 17:44, 4 March 2022 (UTC)Reply
